Abstract

The present invention relates to novel systems and methods for manufacturing estimation, production assembly and inventory management. In an embodiment, a system is provided to create and respond to RFPs, perform capacity planning for an eventual production line, efficiently implement the production line in software, and track detailed warehouse data, including transaction data. Such tracking may allow process improvement, report generation, and market research analysis. In an embodiment, one or more systems may be used to implement one or more aspects of the present invention.

Claims (30)

1. A system, comprising:

an inventory management server connected to a network and having a data store;

a receiving terminal located at a facility for fabricating a finished good from a plurality of components; the receiving terminal configured, in response to a first quantity of one of the components arriving at the facility, to capture first transaction data describing the arrival of the first quantity, and to send the first transaction data to the inventory management server via network;

a warehouse terminal located at the facility and configured, in response to a second quantity, being a portion of the first quantity, of the one component being moved to a production line in the facility, to capture second transaction data describing the movement of the second quantity of the one component, and to send the second transaction data to the inventory management server via the network;

a production terminal located at the facility and configured, in response to a third quantity, being a portion of the second quantity, of the one component being converted into a fourth quantity of the finished good at the production line, to capture third transaction data describing the conversion of the third quantity of the one component, and to send the third transaction data to the inventory management server via the network;

a shipping terminal located at the facility and configured, in response to the fourth quantity of the finished good being shipped from the facility, to capture fourth transaction data describing the shipping of the fourth quantity of the finished good, and to send the fourth transaction data to the inventory management server via the network;

the inventory management server configured to store each of the first, second, third and fourth transaction data in corresponding transaction records in the data store; and to respond to a request to view transaction data by selecting at least one of the transaction records and transmitting the selected transaction records for the display.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the request to view transaction data is received at the inventory management server from one of the receiving terminal, the warehouse terminal, the production terminal and the shipping terminal.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the third transaction data includes labor data identifying an employee performing the conversion.

4. A method in a facility for fabricating a finished good from a plurality of components, comprising:

in response to a first quantity of one of the components arriving at the facility, capturing, using a receiving terminal located at the facility, first transaction data describing the arrival of the first quantity of the one component;

in response to a second quantity, being a portion of the first quantity, of the one component being moved to a production line in the facility, capturing, using a warehouse terminal located at the facility, second transaction data describing the movement of the second quantity of the component;

in response to a third quantity, being a portion of the second quantity, of the one component being converted into a fourth quantity of the finished good at the production line, capturing, using a production terminal located at the facility, third transaction data describing the conversion of the third quantity of the one component;

in response to the fourth quantity of the finished good being shipped from the facility, capturing, using a shipping terminal, fourth transaction data describing the shipping of the fourth quantity of the finished good;

sending the first transaction data, the second transaction data, the third transaction data and the fourth transaction data to an inventory management server via a network;

at the inventory management server, receiving and storing the first, second, third and fourth transaction data in corresponding transaction records in a data store;

responding to a request to view transaction data by selecting at least one of the transaction records and transmitting the selected transaction records from the inventory management server for display.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the inventory management server is configured to operate as a Software as a Service (SaaS).

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the inventory management server is configured to receive one or more warehouse inputs from one or more warehouse systems.

7. The system of claim 6 wherein the first, second, third and fourth transaction data are captured as at least one of user inputs and machine inputs.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein the first, second, third and fourth transaction data are sent to the inventory management server substantially in real-time with the arrival, movement, conversion and shipping, respectively.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein the inventory management server is further configured to enable making changes, or requesting changes, to one or more production lines.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein the inventory management server is configured to receive one or more assembler inputs and create one or more production lines.

11. The system of claim 10 wherein the inventory management module server is configured to receive one or more requirements and one or more resource inputs to create one or more scenarios for the one or more production lines.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein the inventory management module server is configured to determine whether, for at least one of the one or more scenarios, at least one of the one or more requirements for the production line can be met based on at least one of the one or more resource inputs.

13. The system of claim 12 wherein the determining occurs in real-time.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein the inventory management server is configured to allow monitoring of the production line and making changes, or requesting changes, thereto.

15. The system of claim 1 wherein the inventory management server further comprises a request for proposal response (RFPR) module for creating a RFPR.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein the RFPR module receives assembler inputs to create the RFPR.

17. The system of claim 16 wherein the inventory management server is configured to receive one or more assembler inputs and converts the RFPR into a production line.
