Abstract

A travel seat locking system including a seat comprising a front seating surface, an exterior back surface, left and right sides, and left and right retractable securing projections extending from the left and right sides. A stroller is provided comprising a frame having at least one front leg, at least one rear leg, and a passenger seating area. A pair of left and right seat securing members are connected to the frame and have a slot for releasable engagement with the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat. An actuator control is connected to the left and right seat securing members. Actuation of the actuator control withdraws the left and right retractable securing projections toward an interior of the seat to release the locking engagement between the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat and the left and right seat securing members of the stroller.

Claims (19)

1. A travel seat locking system comprising:

a seat comprising a front seating surface, an exterior back surface, left and right exterior side surfaces, and left and right retractable securing projections extending from a respective one of the left and right exterior side surfaces;

a stroller comprising a frame having at least one front leg, at least one rear leg, and a passenger seating area, a pair of left and right seat securing members are connected to the frame and have a slot for releasable engagement with a respective one of the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat; and

an actuator control connected to the left and right retractable securing projections, actuation of the actuator control withdraws the left and right retractable securing projections toward an interior of the seat to release the locking engagement between the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat and the left and right seat securing members of the stroller.

2. The travel seat locking system of claim 1 , wherein the left and right retractable securing projections are biased outwardly from the left and right exterior side surfaces of the seat.

3. The travel seat locking system of claim 1 , wherein the left and right seat securing members are adjacent the passenger seating area.

The travel seat locking system of claim 1 , wherein the stroller further comprises a child tray, and at least a portion of the seat rests on the child tray when the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat are engaged with the left and right seat securing members of the stroller.

5. The travel seat locking system of claim 4 , wherein the exterior back surface further comprises a lip that rests on the child tray.

6. The travel seat locking system of claim 1 , further comprising:

a base having a planar bottom surface, an upper surface that receives the seat, left and right walls, and left and right slots defined in the left and right walls for releasable engagement with a respective one of the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat;

wherein actuation of the actuator control withdraws the left and right retractable securing projections toward an interior of the seat to release the locking engagement between the left and right retractable securing projections of the seat.

7. The travel seat locking system of claim 1 , wherein the actuator control is positioned on the exterior back surface of the seat.

8. The travel seat locking system of claim 7 , wherein the seat has a head end and a foot end, and the actuator control is positioned at the head end of the seat.

9. A travel system comprising:

a travel seat comprising a seating surface, an exterior back surface, left and right exterior side surfaces, and left and right retractable securing projections extending from a respective one of the left and right exterior side surfaces;

a stroller frame comprising at least one front leg, at least one rear leg, and a seat defining a passenger seating area, a pair of left and right seat securing members are connected to the stroller frame and have a slot positioned in the passenger seating area for releasable engagement with a respective one of the left and right retractable securing projections of the travel seat; and

an actuator control to release the locking engagement between the left and right retractable securing projections of the travel seat and the left and right seat securing members of the stroller.

10. The travel system of claim 9 , wherein the actuator control is positioned on the exterior back surface of the travel seat.

11. The travel system of claim 10 , wherein the travel seat has a head end and a foot end, and the actuator control is positioned at the head end of the travel seat.
