System and method for hanging picture frames
View Patent ↗A system and method for hanging a picture frame on a wall, comprising the steps of providing a picture frame with a hanger, for receiving a nail therein and a marking device temporarily secured to the picture frame and disposed near the void for receiving the nail; pressing the picture frame with the marking device protruding out from the picture frame, so that the marking device makes a perceivable mark on the wall, then removing the marking device; inserting a nail, screw or a length adjustable wall auger into the wall at the mark; and hanging the picture with the hanger so that the nail, screw or a length adjustable wall auger occupies some of the space earlier occupied by the marking device.
1. A system for hanging pictures on a substantially vertical surface comprising:
a plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures sized and configured to be securely disposed on an object to be hung; and
each of said plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures is a one piece structure and comprises a first structure configured to first mark a location for a hole in a surface and then be destructively broken away from a second structure configured to be hung on a protuberance disposed in a hole made at said location, where said first structure is initially configured to be temporarily securely held with respect to said second structure and then further configured to be readily and destructively broken away from said second structure and said first structure is configured to be non-reusable after being removed with respect to said second structure,
wherein said object is a picture frame and said surface is a gypsum board wall and where said first structure is operationally disposed at only a single location with respect to said object to be hung,
wherein said first structure comprises a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section with a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section marking structure protruding therefrom,
wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section further comprises a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section marking structure back support structure, which is disposed on an opposite side from said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section marking structure, and
wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section further comprises a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section removal assisting hole therein,
the system further comprising a plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structure central destructively break away section attachment portions, which are configured to retain dual purpose hanging and marking structure central destructively break away section coupled to dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section until dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section is twisted about dual purpose hanging and marking structure central destructively break away section attachment portions cause fatigue and a destructively break away failure to occur in the material of dual purpose hanging and marking structure central destructively break away section attachment portions; and
the system further comprising:
a gypsum board wall auger with a detachable tip and a wall engaging spacer disk and a head located, sized and configured to be received in dual purpose hanging and marking structure; and
a tapeable freestanding level with a planar body and a bottom lip in a central region and adjacent taping regions on either side of said bottom lip.

The system of claim 1 wherein said second structure has a second structure longitudinal axis is affixed to a top section of said object, where said top section has a top section longitudinal axis and where said second structure is mounted such that said second structure longitudinal axis is substantially parallel with said top section longitudinal axis and where said first structure is operationally disposed at only a single location with respect to said object to be hung.
3. The system of claim 2 wherein said second structure is screwed to said top section and said first structure in centrally disposed between two screws disposed along said second structure longitudinal axis.

The system of claim 3 wherein said second structure has a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section disposed between a dual purpose hanging and marking structure left side and a dual purpose hanging and marking structure right side, wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section is configured to leave a void which is sized and configured so as to accommodate receiving therein a head of a screw.

The system of claim 1 wherein said second structure has a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section disposed between a dual purpose hanging and marking structure left side and a dual purpose hanging and marking structure right side, wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section is configured to leave a void which is sized and configured so as to accommodate receiving therein only nails, screws and augers.
6. A system for hanging pictures on a substantially vertical surface comprising:
a plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures sized and configured to be securely disposed on an object to be hung; and
each of said plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures is a one piece structure and comprises a first structure configured to first mark a location for a hole in a surface and then be destructively broken away from a second structure configured to be hung on a protuberance disposed in a hole made at said location, where said first structure is initially configured to be temporarily securely held with respect to said second structure and then further configured to be readily and destructively broken away from said second structure by twisting said first structure to cause fatigue and failure to occur in the material of said first structure and said first structure is configured to be non-reusable after being removed with respect to said second structure.
7. A kit for hanging pictures on a wall comprising:
a plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures securely sized and configured to be disposed on a picture frame; where each of said plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures is a one piece structure;
each of said plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structures comprises a first structure configured to first mark a location for a hole in a wall surface and then a second structure configured to be hung on a protuberance disposed in a hole made at said location, where said first structure is further configured to be temporarily securely held with respect to said picture frame and then further configured to be readily break away with respect to said picture frame;
wherein said second structure is sized and configured to be disposed at a top section of said picture frame;
wherein said second structure has a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section disposed between a dual purpose hanging and marking structure left side and a dual purpose hanging and marking structure right side, wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section is configured to leave a void which is sized and configured so as to accommodate receiving therein a fastener head;
where said first structure comprises a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section with a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section marking structure protruding therefrom;
wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section further comprises a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section marking structure back support structure, which is disposed on an opposite side from said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section marking structure;
wherein said dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section further comprises a dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section removal assisting hole therein; and
a plurality of dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section attachment portions, which are configured to retain dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section coupled to dual purpose hanging and marking structure central protruding section until dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section is twisted about dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section attachment portions cause fatigue to occur in the material of dual purpose hanging and marking structure central break away section attachment portions.
