Intersomatic cage
The invention relates to an intersomatic cage comprising a body ( 3 ) and a part ( 2 ) that is designed to dilate the intersomatic space between two vertebrae ( 8, 8 ′) by rotating the cage so that the cage ( 1 ) can be inserted into the space. The body ( 3 ) has a prism shape with a substantially planar upper surface ( 6 ) which can bear against the superior vertebral endplate ( 8 ) and a substantially planar lower surface ( 6 ′) which can bear against the inferior vertebral endplate ( 8 ′).
1. An intersomatic cage ( 1 ) comprising a body ( 3 ) that has an essentially flat superior surface ( 6 ) capable of resting against a superior vertebra ( 8 ) and an essentially flat inferior surface ( 6 ′) capable of resting against an inferior vertebra ( 8 ′) and a protruding part ( 2 ) capable of expanding an intersomatic space between the two vertebrae ( 8 , 8 ′) by rotating the cage ( 1 ) in order to be able to insert said cage ( 1 ) therein, characterized in that the protruding part ( 2 ) has a distal end and a proximal end which is connected to a face ( 7 ) of the body ( 3 ), the protruding part ( 2 ) extending over a width from the proximal part connected to the body ( 3 ) to the distal part, said protruding part ( 2 ) having a cross-section in a sectional plane facing to said face ( 7 ) of the body which cross-section has a short dimension and a long dimension, said cross-section being essentially constant between the proximal end and the distal end, and wherein the width of the protruding part between its proximal end and distal end is less than the length of the long dimension of the protruding part and further characterized in that an inclined first plane defined by and extending along the entire long dimension of the protruding part ( 2 ) and extending through the middle of the short dimension along the entire length of the long dimension and extending across the width of the protruding part ( 2 ) is arranged at an angle that is inclined relative to the superior ( 6 ) and inferior ( 6 ′) surfaces of the body ( 3 ) of the cage ( 1 ), said inclined first plane intersecting with a second plane in extension of said essentially flat superior surface ( 6 ) of the body ( 3 ) at a first end of the long dimension of the protruding part ( 2 ), said inclined first plane furthermore intersecting with a third plane in extension of said essentially flat inferior surface ( 6 ′) of the body ( 3 ) at a second end of the long dimension of the protruding part ( 2 ).
2. The intersomatic cage as claimed in claim 1 , characterized in that the inclined first plane is situated between 40° and 60° relative to the said second and third planes of the superior ( 6 ) and inferior ( 6 ′) surfaces of the body ( 3 ) of the cage ( 1 ).

The intersomatic cage as claimed in claim 1 , characterized in that the protruding part ( 2 ) designed to expand the intersomatic space is arranged on an anterior side of the body ( 3 ) of the cage, which anterior side defines said face ( 7 ) of the body ( 3 ) connected to the proximal end of the protruding part ( 2 ).
4. The intersomatic cage as claimed in claim 3 , characterized in that the cross-section of the protruding part ( 2 ) has a substantially oblong shape with two elongated facing sides and with rounded ends.
