Abstract

A organic light-emitting display apparatus includes a substrate, a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate and including an active layer, a gate electrode, a source electrode and a drain electrode, a pixel electrode electrically connected to the source electrode and the drain electrode, a counter electrode corresponding to the pixel electrode, a light-emitting layer disposed in a plurality of light-emitting regions between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode, a common layer disposed in the light-emitting regions and in a plurality of non-light-emitting regions around the light-emitting regions between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode, and a plurality of partition walls including an insulating material disposed in the common layer.

Claims (24)

1. An organic light-emitting display apparatus comprising:

a substrate;

a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate and including an active layer, a gate electrode, a source electrode and a drain electrode;

a pixel electrode electrically connected to the source electrode and the drain electrode;

a counter electrode corresponding to the pixel electrode;

a light-emitting layer disposed entirely within a plurality of light-emitting regions between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode;

a common layer disposed in the light-emitting regions and in a plurality of non-light-emitting regions around the light-emitting regions between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode, the common layer comprising a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an electron transport layer, and an electron injection layer; and

a plurality of partition walls including an insulating material disposed in and in contact with the common layer,

wherein the plurality of partition walls penetrate through the hole injection layer, the hole transport layer, the electron transport layer, and the electron injection layer while the counter electrode is not penetrated by the plurality of partition walls, and

wherein the counter electrode directly contacts and covers an entire top surface of the plurality of partition walls.

2. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the partition walls comprise at least one material selected from the group consisting of polyimide, polyamide, an acryl resin, benzocyclobutene, a phenol resin, silicon oxide (SiO 2 ), silicon nitride (SiN x ), aluminium oxide (Al 2 O 3 ), copper oxide (CuO x ), terbium (Tb 4 O 7 ), yttrium (Y 2 O 3 ), niobium (Nb 2 O 5 ), and praseodymium (Pr 2 O 3 ).

3. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the partition walls are disposed in the non-light-emitting regions between the light-emitting regions.

4. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 3 , further comprising a pixel-defining layer disposed in the non-light-emitting region, wherein the partition walls are disposed on the pixel-defining layer.

5. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the partition walls are configured to block a current from flowing in the common layer.

6. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the hole injection layer, the hole transport layer, the electron transport layer, and the electron injection layer are sequentially disposed in a direction from the pixel electrode toward the counter electrode, and wherein the light-emitting layer is disposed between the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer.

7. An organic light-emitting display apparatus comprising:

a plurality of light-emitting regions; and

a plurality of non-light-emitting regions disposed between the plurality of light-emitting regions,

wherein the light-emitting regions are configured to emit light when a current flows from a pixel electrode to a counter electrode through a common layer and a light-emitting layer, and the common layer comprises a plurality of partition walls that are disposed in some areas of the non-light-emitting regions and include an insulating material,

wherein the common layer comprises a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, an electron transport layer, and an electron injection layer, the plurality of partition walls penetrate through and are in contact with the hole injection layer, the hole transport layer, the electron transport layer, and the electron injection layer while the counter electrode is not penetrated by the plurality of partition walls,

wherein the light-emitting layer is disposed entirely within the plurality of light-emitting regions and the common layer is disposed in the light-emitting regions and the non-light-emitting regions, and

wherein the counter electrode directly contacts and covers an entire top surface of the plurality of partition walls.

8. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the partition walls comprise at least one material selected from the group consisting of polyimide, polyamide, an acryl resin, benzocyclobutene, a phenol resin, silicon oxide (SiO 2 ), silicon nitride (SiN x ), aluminium oxide (Al 2 O 3 ), copper oxide (CuO x ), terbium (Tb 4 O 7 ), yttrium (Y 2 O 7 ), niobium (Nb 3 O 3 ), and praseodymium (Pr 2 O 3 ).

9. The organic light-emitting display apparatus of claim 7 , wherein the partition walls are configured to block a current from flowing in the common layer.
