Abstract

A compound can destabilize a binding interaction between an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and a sodium/glucose co-transporter 1 (SGLT 1). In one embodiment, the compound is a peptide derived from the interacting domain of EGFR. In another embodiment, the peptide is administered to a patient to treat cancer.

Claims (5)

1. A composition comprising:

a peptide capable of destabilizing a binding interaction between an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and a sodium/glucose co-transporter 1 (SGLT-1), wherein the peptide consists of one of SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 5, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 7, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 9, SEQ ID NO: 10 and SEQ ID NO: 11.

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the peptide is capable of causing the death of at least one of breast cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, and colon cancer cells.

A peptide capable of destabilizing a binding interaction between an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and a sodium/glucose co-transporter 1 (SGLT-1), wherein the peptide consists of one of SEQ ID NO: 1, SEQ ID NO: 2, SEQ ID NO: 3, SEQ ID NO: 4, SEQ ID NO: 5, SEQ ID NO: 6, SEQ ID NO: 7, SEQ ID NO: 8, SEQ ID NO: 9, SEQ ID NO: 10 and SEQ ID NO: 11.

4. The peptide of claim 3 , wherein the peptide is capable of causing the death of at least one of breast cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, and colon cancer cells.
