Compounds for treating ocular diseases
View Patent ↗The present invention provides a method for treating an ocular disease in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering an effective amount of a compound of Formula (A) to the subject. Also provided is a pharmaceutical composition for treating an ocular disease, which comprises compound of Formula (A), and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
1. A method for treating an ocular disease other than an eye cancer in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of:

The method of claim 1 , wherein the effective amount is an amount selected from the group consisting of: an amount effective to enhance the viability of RPE cells suffering from oxidative stress and/or hypoxia-induced damages; an amount effective to enhance the viability of RPE cells suffering from oxidative stress and/or hypoxia-induced damages, and in the same time having little or no effect on the viability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) or effective to decrease the viability of HUVECs; an amount effective to enhance ocular blood flow; an amount effective to reduce choroidal neovascularization (CNV); an amount effective to enhance RPE function; and an amount effective in achieving a combination of the above-mentioned efficacies.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the ocular disease is selected from the group consisting of glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), ischemic retinopathy, optic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, uveitis, and senile cataract.
4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the ocular disease is AMD.
5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the AMD is dry AMD.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administered to the subject topically in the eyes or orally.
7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is in the form of eye ointment, eye gel, eye cream, or eye drops.
