Abstract

Flavored chewable wafers containing nutritional supplement formulations suitable for enhancement of cell and mitochondrial function as well as providing antioxidants and aiding in weight loss and other desirable nutritional benefits comprises enriched formulations of phospholipids, specifically identified concentrations of phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, glycolipids and phosphatidylserine along with inulin and other desirable active ingredients. These edible wafer lipid combinations can be used to treat mitochondrial disorders and other nutritional deficiencies associated with medical pathologies, chronic illnesses and syndromes, or to maintain lipid balance for normal mitochondrial function, and can be administered in pleasant tasting chewable wafers.

Claims (29)

1. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids and CoQ10 in therapeutically effective amounts, and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, a chocolate flavoring agent, stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate, and silicon dioxide, and optionally further comprising a colorant,

said wafer effective for maintaining or restoring cell mitochondrial health in a human body, or a specific organ system within a human body, or treating a specific disease or phospholipid deficiency within a human body resulting from a mitochondrial deficiency wherein the phospholipids in the base composition comprise about 19-29% phosphatidylcholine (PC), 15-25% phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), 3.5%-10% phosphatidic acid (PA), 10-18% phosphatidylinositol (PI), 2-10%, phosphatidylglycerol (PG), 10-20% glycolipids and phosphatidylserine (PS).

2. The wafer of claim 1 , the wafer being about 0.875 inch in diameter, having a total weight of about 3150 mg and containing about 1250 mg of the base composition.

3. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids, vitamin D3 and vitamin K in therapeutically effective amounts, and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, silicon dioxide, one or more vanilla flavorings, and stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate,

said wafer effective for enhancement of bone health and maintaining or restoring cell mitochondrial health in a human body, or a specific organ system within a human body, or treating a specific disease or phospholipid deficiency within a human body resulting from a mitochondrial deficiency wherein the phospholipids in the base composition comprise about 19-29% phosphatidylcholine (PC), 15-25% phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), 3.5%-10% phosphatidic acid (PA), 10-18% phosphatidylinositol (PI), 2-10% phosphatidylglycerol (PG), 10-20% glycolipids and phosphatidylserine (PS).

4. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids, vitamin C, trans-resveratrol, CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid and a melon juice extract containing superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase in therapeutically effective amounts, and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, one or more flavoring agents, stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate, beet juice powder and citric acid,

said wafer effective for addressing oxidative stress and maintaining or restoring cell mitochondrial health in a human body, or a specific organ system within a human body, or treating a specific disease or phospholipid deficiency within a human body resulting from a mitochondrial deficiency wherein the phospholipids in the base composition comprise about 19-29% phosphatidylcholine (PC), 15-25% phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), 3.5%-10% phosphatidic acid (PA), 10-18% phosphatidylinositol (PI), 2-10% phosphatidylglycerol (PG), 10-20% glycolipids and phosphatidylserine (PS).

5. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids, and phaseolamin derived from white kidney bean (phaseous vulgaris) in therapeutically effective amounts, and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, orange and vanilla flavoring agents, stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate, silicon dioxide and citric acid

said wafer effective for aiding in weight loss and maintaining or restoring cell mitochondrial health in a human body, or a specific organ system within a human body, or treating a specific disease or phospholipid deficiency within a human body resulting from a mitochondrial deficiency wherein the phospholipids in the base composition comprise about 19-29% phosphatidylcholine (PC), 15-25% phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), 3.5%-10% phosphatidic acid (PA), 10-18% phosphatidylinositol (PI), 2-10% phosphatidylglycerol (PG), 10-20% glycolipids and phosphatidylserine (PS).

6. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids and a mixture of one or more of dried, powdered broccoli, broccoli sprouts, tomato, carrot, spinach, kale, brussel sprouts and onion extracts, in therapeutically effective amounts and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, one or more flavoring agents, stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate, beet juice powder, silicon dioxide and citric acid
