Abstract

A source video comprising 2D image frames is acquired, and an image frame including two or more motion vectors describing motion in the image frame is obtained, wherein each of the motion vectors is associated with a region of the image frame. A parameter is calculated for the following: (a) a lateral speed of the image frame, using the motion vectors, and (b) a direction of motion of the image frame, using the more motion vectors. A deformation value is generated using an algorithm that uses both of the parameters, and is applied to the image frame to identify a modified image frame. The modified image frame is blended with a bridge frame that is a non-solid color and different from the modified image frame, to generate a blended frame. The direction of motion and velocity of motion parameters are calculated from the motion vectors.

Claims (17)

1. A method for generating and displaying modified video, the method comprising:

(1) acquiring a source video comprising a sequence of image frames;

(2) obtaining a first image frame based on a selected one of the image frames of the source video;

(3) generating a modified image frame by performing one of:

(i) expanding the first image frame;

(ii) removing a first portion of the first image frame; and

(iii) stitching together the first image frame with a second portion of a second image frame; and

(4) generating a first altered image frame that includes first and second non-overlapping portions, wherein the first non-overlapping portion comprises a first selected portion of the modified image frame, wherein the first image frame does not include the second non-overlapping portion, wherein the modified image frame does not include the second non-overlapping portion; and

(5) generating a second altered image frame that includes third and fourth non-overlapping portions, wherein the third non-overlapping portion comprises a second selected portion of the modified image frame, the second selected portion of the modified image frame being different from the first selected portion of the modified image frame, wherein the first image frame does not include the fourth non-overlapping portion, wherein the modified image frame does not include the fourth non-overlapping portion.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein a viewer views the modified video through spectacles.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the spectacles include:

a left lens and a right lens, each of the left lens and the right lens having a darkened state and a light state, the state of the left lens being independent of the state of the right lens, wherein each of the left lens and the right lens comprises one or more electro-optical materials;

a battery;

a control unit; and

a signal receiving unit;

wherein the control unit is adapted to control the state of the left and right lenses independently.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second selected portion of the modified image is solid black.
