Abstract

Flavored chewable wafers containing caffeine suitable for increasing alertness and allow an individual to perform tasks in a more focused and energetic manner comprises, formulations of phospholipids, specifically identified concentrations of phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylcholine, glycolipids and phosphatidylserine along with inulin and other desirable active ingredients.

Claims (16)

1. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids and caffeine in therapeutically effective amounts, and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, a flavoring agent, stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate, and optionally further comprising a colorant,

said wafer effective, when consumed by an individual, to increase alertness and allow the individual to perform tasks in a more focused and energetic manner, wherein the phospholipids in the base composition comprise about 19-29% phosphatidylcholine (PC), 15-25% phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), 3.5%-10% phosphatidic acid (PA), 10-18% phosphatidylinositol (PI), 2-10% phosphatidylglycerol (PG), 10-20% glycolipids and phosphatidylserine (PS).

2. The wafer of claim 1 being about 0.875 inch in diameter, having a total weight of about 3500 mg and containing 100 to 200 mg of caffeine.

3. The wafer of claim 2 containing about 118 mg of caffeine providing increased alertness, focus and energy for 4-6 hours.

4. The wafer of claim 2 containing about 175 mg of caffeine providing increased alertness, focus and energy for 8-9.4 hours.

5. The wafer of claim 1 , wherein the flavoring agent is chocolate, mocha or wild berry.

6. The wafer of claim 1 further including sodium borate as an active ingredient.

7. An edible wafer comprising:

a) a base composition comprising a combination of inulin, phospholipids and about 100-200 mg of caffeine in therapeutically effective amounts, and

b) a carrier for the base composition comprising xylitol, a flavoring agent, stearic acid and/or vegetable stearate and optionally further comprising a colorant,

said wafer effective, when consumed by an individual, to increase alertness and allow the individual to perform tasks in a more focused and energetic manner for 4-9.4 hours, wherein the base composition comprises a combination of phospholipids comprising phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidic acid, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylglycerol, glycolipids and phosphatidylserine.

8. The wafer of claim 7 containing about 118 mg of caffeine providing increased alertness, focus and energy for 4-6 hours.

9. The wafer of claim 7 containing about 175 mg of caffeine providing increased alertness, focus and energy for 8-9.4 hours.

10. The wafer of claim 7 further including sodium borate as an active ingredient.
