Abstract

An organic light emitting diode display includes a substrate, a scan line on the substrate for transferring a scan signal, a data line crossing the scan line and for transferring a data signal, a driving voltage line crossing the scan line and for transferring a driving voltage, a switching thin film transistor coupled to the scan line and the data line, a driving thin film transistor coupled to a switching drain electrode of the switching thin film transistor, and an organic light emitting diode (OLED) coupled to a driving drain electrode of the driving thin film transistor, wherein a driving semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor is bent and in a plane substantially parallel to the substrate.

Claims (65)

1. An organic light emitting diode display comprising:

a substrate;

a scan line on the substrate for transferring a scan signal;

a data line crossing the scan line and for transferring a data signal;

a driving voltage line crossing the scan line and for transferring a driving voltage;

a switching thin film transistor electrically coupled to the scan line and the data line

a driving thin film transistor comprising a driving drain electrode, a driving semiconductor layer, a driving gate electrode and a driving source electrode;

a first insulating layer covering the driving semiconductor layer;

a first storage capacitor plate of a storage capacitor formed on the first insulating layer and electrically coupled to the driving gate electrode;

a second insulating layer covering the first storage capacitor plate;

a second storage capacitor plate formed on the second insulating layer and overlapping the first storage capacitor plate;

a protective layer covering the storage capacitor and having a contact hole; and

a pixel electrode of an organic light emitting diode (OLED) electrically coupled to the driving drain electrode of the driving thin film transistor through the contact hole,

wherein the organic light emitting diode and the driving semiconductor layer are connected by a semiconductor layer extended from the driving semiconductor layer and branched from a nearby thin film transistor in a body.

2. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 1 , wherein the driving voltage line and is formed on a third insulating layer and coupled to the second storage capacitor plate.

3. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 1 , wherein the driving semiconductor layer comprises a bent portion.

4. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 3 , wherein the driving semiconductor layer comprises:

a plurality of first extension portions extending in a first direction; and

a plurality of second extension portions extending in a second direction that is different from the first direction, and

wherein one of the first extension portions and one of the second extension portions are coupled through the bent portion.

5. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 1 , wherein the pixel electrode of the organic light emitting diode (OLED) overlapped with the storage capacitor.

6. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 5 , wherein the driving semiconductor layer comprises a bent portion.

7. An organic light emitting diode display comprising:

a substrate;

a scan line on the substrate for transferring a scan signal;

a data line crossing the scan line and for transferring a data signal;

a driving voltage line crossing the scan line and for transferring a driving voltage;

a switching thin film transistor coupled to the scan line and the data line;

a driving thin film transistor comprising a driving drain electrode, a driving semiconductor layer, and a driving source electrode;

an organic light emitting diode (OLED) electrically coupled to the driving drain electrode of the driving thin film transistor

a first insulating layer covering the driving semiconductor layer,

a thin film transistor electrically coupled to a gate electrode of the driving thin film transistor and the driving semiconductor layer,

a storage capacitor on the first insulating layer, the storage capacitor comprising:

a first storage capacitor plate on the first insulating layer;

a second insulating layer covering the first storage capacitor plate; and

a second storage capacitor plate formed on the second insulating layer and insulated by a third insulating layer from the driving source electrode,

wherein the driving semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor is bent and the driving semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor is in a plane substantially parallel to the substrate.

8. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 7 , wherein the driving semiconductor layer comprises a plurality of bent portions.

9. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 8 , wherein the driving semiconductor layer comprises:

a plurality of first extension portions extending in a first direction; and

a plurality of second extension portions extending in a second direction that is different from the first direction, and

wherein one of the first extension portions and one of the second extension portions are coupled through one of the bent portions.

10. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 7 , wherein the driving semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor and the thin film transistor between the driving voltage line and the organic light emitting diode is extended and electrically coupled to the thin film transistor is bent.

11. An organic light emitting diode display comprising:

a substrate;

a scan line on the substrate for transferring a scan signal;

an initialization voltage line on the substrate for transferring an initialization voltage to a driving thin film transistor, wherein the driving thin film transistor comprising a driving drain electrode, a driving semiconductor layer, a driving gate electrode and a driving source electrode;

a data line crossing the scan line and for transferring a data signal;

a switching thin film transistor coupled to the scan line and the data line,

wherein a switching drain electrode of the switching thin film transistor is electrically coupled to the driving thin film transistor;

a driving voltage line crossing the scan line and for transferring a driving voltage;

an organic light emitting diode (OLED) electrically coupled to a driving drain electrode of the driving thin film transistor;

a first insulating layer covering the driving semiconductor layer;

a first storage capacitor plate of a storage capacitor formed on the first insulating layer and electrically coupled to the driving gate electrode;

a second insulating layer covering the first storage capacitor plate;

a second storage capacitor plate formed on the second insulating layer and overlapping the first storage capacitor plate; and

a thin film transistor electrically coupled to the initialization voltage line and the organic light emitting diode,

wherein a semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor and the thin film transistor between the initialization voltage line and the organic light emitting diode is integral in a body.

12. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 11 , further comprising an operation control thin film transistor is electrically coupled between the driving voltage line and the driving thin film transistor.

The organic light emitting diode display of claim 12 , wherein the semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor and the thin film transistor between the initialization voltage line and the organic light emitting diode is extended and electrically coupled to the operation control thin film transistor.

The organic light emitting diode display of claim 13 , wherein the semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor and the thin film transistor between the initialization voltage line and the organic light emitting diode is extended and electrically coupled to the operation control thin film transistor is bent.

The organic light emitting diode display of claim 11 , wherein the semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor and the thin film transistor between the initialization voltage line and the organic light emitting diode is extended and electrically coupled to the thin film transistor is bent.

16. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 11 , further comprising a gate electrode of the thin film transistor is electrically coupled to the scan line.

The organic light emitting diode display of claim 16 , wherein the semiconductor layer of the driving thin film transistor and the thin film transistor between the initialization voltage line and the organic light emitting diode is extended and electrically coupled to the thin film transistor is bent.

18. The organic light emitting diode display of claim 11 , further comprising a gate electrode of the thin film transistor is electrically coupled to a line other than the scan line.
