Abstract

The invention relates to improved alkaline phosphatases, pharmaceutical compositions comprising improved alkaline phosphatases and the use of improved alkaline phosphatases for preventing, treating or curing diseases.

Claims (17)

1. An isolated protein having phosphatase activity comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1.

2. The isolated protein of claim 1 which comprises a glycosylation site.

3. The isolated protein of claim 1 , wherein the isolated protein has a higher affinity for pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP) at physiological pH than an alkaline phosphatase having the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 4.

4. The isolated protein of claim 1 , wherein the amino acid sequence of the isolated protein consists of the sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1.

5. The isolated protein of claim 4 which comprises a glycosylation site.

6. A composition comprising the isolated protein of claim 1 and a pharmaceutical acceptable carrier, a diluent or an excipient.

7. A composition comprising the isolated protein of claim 4 and a pharmaceutical acceptable carrier, a diluent or an excipient.

8. The composition of claim 7 which is a fluid or a solid.

9. The composition 8 , wherein the fluid is an injectable fluid, an infusion fluid, an elixir, a syrup, or a suspension.

10. The composition of claim 8 , wherein the solid is a capsule, a tablet, or a powder.

11. The composition of claim 6 which is a nutritional composition or a nutraceutical.

12. A polynucleotide comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein according to claim 1 .

13. A vector comprising a polynucleotide according to claim 12 .

14. The vector of claim 13 which is a cloning or expression vector.

15. A polynucleotide comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein according to claim 4 .

16. A vector comprising a polynucleotide according to claim 15 .

17. The vector of claim 16 which is a cloning or ion vector.
