Abstract

The present invention relates generally to providing an apparatus for on-site CO 2 process fluids management. A standardized and universal platform is described which provides CO 2 process fluids at various capacities, purity levels, pressures, temperatures and phases. Moreover, herein is described an apparatus and process for communicating with factory cleaning and automation tools. Finally, the present invention describes novel apparatus and method for treating gas or liquid phase carbon dioxide using a photo-initiated catalytic reaction, a novel self-cooling and self-regenerating bulk phase recycling system for liquid phase carbon dioxide, and a novel quality control technique using on-line fiber optic spectroscopic analysis.

Claims (10)

1. Carbon dioxide purification apparatus comprising:

a vertically oriented cylindrical high-pressure equalization tank having an inlet;

a vertically oriented cylindrical expander-concentrator tube disposed within the equalization tank, the expander-concentrator tube including upper and lower end sections having heat-exchanging surfaces interconnected with an enlarged expansion tube;

a three way valve, a first connection pipe for fluidly connecting the bottom of the high-pressure equalization tank with the three way valve and a second connection pipe for fluidly connecting the lower end of the expander concentrator tube with the three way valve,

a heat exchanger having an inlet side and an outlet side,

a first vapor transfer pipe fluidly connecting the upper end of the expander-concentrator tube to the inlet side of the heat exchanger;

a filter interposed in the first vapor transfer pipe between the expander-contractor tube and the heat exchanger;

a compressor pump interposed in the first vapor transfer pipe between the filter and the heat exchanger;

a condenser pipe fluidly connecting the outlet of the heat exchanger with the equalization tank;

a second vapor transfer pipe for fluidly connecting the equalization tank to the inlet side of the heat exchanger.
