Interface for a programmable logic device
View Patent ↗The present invention provides circuitry for implementing a multiple data rate interface architectures for programmable logic devices. The programmable logic device of the invention includes a core and surrounding periphery. The core includes a plurality of logic elements arranged in an array. Some of the logic elements within the core include registers that are used as data registers for the multiple data rate interface.
1. A programmable logic device (PLD) comprising a core and a surrounding periphery, the PLD including an I/O interface, wherein at least a portion of the I/O interface is located within the core, wherein the I/O interface is configurable to read data from a device external to the PLD and wherein the I/O interface comprises DQ lines, buffers, register blocks, a DQS line, a phase delay circuit, and a multiplexer.
2. The PLD of claim 1 , wherein each of the register blocks comprise a pair of registers.
3. A programmable logic device (PLD) comprising a core and a surrounding periphery, the PLD including an I/O interface, wherein at least a portion of the I/O interface is located within the core, wherein the I/O interface is configurable to write data to a device external to the PLD and wherein the I/O interface comprises a phase delay circuit, register blocks, multiplexers, logic gates, buffers, DQ lines, and a DQS line.
4. The PLD of claim 3 , wherein each of the register blocks comprise four registers.
5. A circuit comprising a section of logic elements and a section of I/O circuits, wherein at least one of the logic elements is programmable to operate as a data register in connection with one or more of the I/O circuits to form a multiple data rate interface, wherein the one or more of the I/O circuits includes DQ lines and wherein the one or more of the I/O circuits further includes buffers and a phase delay circuit.
6. The circuit of claim 5 , wherein the one or more of the I/O circuits further includes multiplexers and logic gates.
