Abstract

A peptide comprising the amino acid sequence RMFPNAPYL or a portion or variant thereof provided that the peptide is not intact human WT-1 polypeptide or a peptide comprising the amino acid sequence CMTWNQMNL or a portion or variant thereof provided that the peptide is not intact human WT-1 polypeptide or a peptide comprising the amino acid sequence HLMPFPGPLL or a portion or variant thereof provided that the peptide is not intact human gata-1 polypeptide, and polynucleotides encoding these peptides. The peptides and polynucleotides are useful as cancer vaccines.

Claims (8)

1. An in vivo method of killing target cells that aberrantly express a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, the method comprising administering to a patient an anti-target cell immune response eliciting amount of an isolated peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the target cells are cancer cells.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the cancer cells comprise leukemia cells, breast cancer cells, melanoma cells or ovarian cancer cells, which express a WT-1 polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1.

4. An in vivo method of killing target cancer cells that aberrantly express human WT-1, the method comprising administering to a patient an anti-target cell immune response eliciting amount of an isolated peptide consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein the cancer cells comprise leukemia cells, breast cancer cells, melanoma cells or ovarian cancer cells, which express human WT-1.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the patient has the HLA-A0201 haplotype.

6. The method of claim 2 wherein the patient has the HLA-A0201 haplotype.

7. The method of claim 3 wherein the patient has the HLA-A0201 haplotype.

8. The method of claim 4 wherein the patient has the HLA-A0201 haplotype.
