Abstract

The automatic loading and unloading of devices for burn-in testing is facilitated by loading burn-in boards in a magazine with the stacked boards in the magazine moved into and out of a burn-in oven by means of a trolley. The trolley can include an elevator whereby a plurality of magazines can be stacked in the oven for the simultaneous burn-in testing of devices mounted on the burn-in boards. Each board has rollers on one end which are engagable by pneumatically actuated cam mechanisms for inserting the board into an electrical contact in the oven for burn-in tests. Preferably, the cam mechanisms allow for extraction of a single board for inspection. The cam mechanisms may be mounted on a door of the oven.

Claims (32)

1. A mechanism comprising:

at least one cam surface for engaging a cam follower on a burn-in board, the cam follower comprises a roller; and

an actuator for moving the cam surface and the burn-in board in an oven;

the mechanism is for use in the oven for sliding a burn-in board into electrical contact with an electrical connector in the oven, the mechanism is mounted on a door of the oven.

2. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the mechanism comprises two cam surfaces for engaging two rollers on a burn-in board.

3. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the actuator allows for extracting a single burn-in board.

4. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is pneumatically actuated.

5. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein a controller is coupled to the mechanism.

6. The mechanism of claim 5 , wherein the actuator is coupled to a valve that is coupled to a pressure line, the controller is coupled to the valve.

7. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the actuator is coupled to a valve that is coupled to a pressure line.

8. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the mechanism is mounted on a door of the oven.

9. The mechanism of claim 1 , wherein the burn-in board comprises an integrated circuit device.

10. A board movement mechanism comprising:

at least one cam surface for engaging a cam follower on a burn-in board that comprises a plurality of electronic devices for testing, the cam follower comprises a roller; and

an actuator for moving the cam surface and the burn-in board in an oven;

the board movement mechanism is for use in the oven for removing a burn-in board from electrical contact with an electrical connector in the oven, the board movement mechanism is mounted on a door of the oven.

11. The board movement mechanism of claim 10 , wherein the actuator is also for inserting a burn-in board into electrical contact with the electrical connector in the oven.

12. The board movement mechanism of claim 10 , wherein the actuator is pneumatically actuated.

13. The board movement mechanism of claim 12 , wherein the actuator is coupled to a valve that is coupled to a pressure line.

14. The board movement mechanism of claim 10 , wherein a touch screen controller is coupled to the board movement mechanism.

15. The board movement mechanism of claim 14 , wherein the actuator is coupled to a valve that is coupled to a pressure line, wherein the touch screen controller is coupled to control the valve.

16. The board movement mechanism of claim 10 , wherein the board movement mechanism is mounted on a door of the oven.

17. The board movement mechanism of claim 10 , wherein the plurality of electronic devices comprises an integrated circuit device.

18. A mechanism comprising:

at least one cam surface for engaging a cam follower on a burn-in board; and

an actuator for moving the cam surface and the burn-in board in an oven;

the mechanism is for use in the oven for sliding a burn-in board into electrical contact with an electrical connector in the oven;

the mechanism is mounted on a door of the oven.

19. The mechanism of claim 18 , wherein the actuator allows for extracting a single burn-in board.

20. The mechanism of claim 18 , wherein the actuator is pneumatically actuated.

21. The mechanism of claim 18 , wherein a controller is coupled to the mechanism.

22. The mechanism of claim 18 , wherein the burn-in board comprises an integrated circuit device.
