Abstract

Claims (8)

1. A polymeric membrane comprising an active layer on a support, wherein the active layer comprises a first film on the support, wherein the first film comprises a crosslinked, aromatic polyamide; and a second film on the first film, wherein the second film comprises a crosslinked aromatic polyamide bearing a fluoroalcohol moiety, and wherein the films are crosslinked with each other at an interface.

2. The membrane of claim 1 , wherein the active layer has a thickness of less than 1 micron.

3. The membrane of claim 1 , wherein the active layer has a thickness of less than 500 nanometers.

4. The membrane of claim 1 , wherein the fluoroalcohol moiety is a hexafluoroalcohol.

5. The membrane of claim 1 , wherein the fluoroalcohol moiety is in an ionic form.

6. The membrane of claim 1 , wherein the support is an ultrafiltration membrane.

7. The membrane of claim 6 , wherein the ultrafiltration membrane is selected from at least one of polyethersulfone, poly(vinylidene floride), polyetherimide and polyacrylonitrile.

8. The membrane of claim 7 , wherein the ultrafiltration membrane comprises a polyethersulfone.
