Abstract

The present invention automates the process of receiving transportation documentation and producing advance loading manifests therefrom to optimize load planning and dynamic product shipment and delivery control. Methods provide for receipt of the transportation documentation, initial preparation, and transmission of the documentation from on board a vehicle or while the vehicle is in transit.

Claims (17)

1. A remote processing system for processing shipping documentation data sent from a vehicle to remote processor, the system comprising:

a processor;

a memory; and

a set of executable instructions residing on the processor capable of dynamically receiving at the remote processor, one or more wireless signals representing shipping documentation data associated with one or more articles of freight, the one or more wireless signals sent from a mobile data transmission device onboard a vehicle; and generating billing information, wherein the billing information is based at least in part on the shipping documentation data and wherein the shipping documentation data is received while the one or more articles of freight is en route to a terminal and wherein the billing information is generated in advance of arrival of the one or more articles of freight at an arrival destination.

2. The remote processing system of claim 1 , wherein the shipping documentation data comprises captured image data of a shipping document.

3. The remote processing system of claim 1 , wherein the shipping documentation data comprises an electronic shipping form.

4. The remote processing system of claim 3 , wherein the electronic shipping documentation data further comprises user inputted information.

5. The remote processing system of claim 1 , wherein the shipping documentation data comprises electronic shipping data inputted by a user.

6. The remote processing system of claim 1 , wherein the billing information comprises dynamic load planning information.

7. The remote processing system of claim 1 , wherein the executable instructions further comprise transmitting the shipping documentation data to a third party.

8. The remote processing system of claim 7 , wherein the third party is a customer and the shipping documentation data comprises captured image data of a shipping document.

9. The remote processing system of claim 7 , wherein the third party is a customer and the shipping documentation data comprises data associated with an electronic shipping form.

10. A method for processing shipping documentation data sent from a vehicle to a remote processor, the method comprising:

receiving at the remote processor, one or more wireless signals representing shipping documentation data associated with one or more articles of freight, wherein the one or more wireless signals are sent from a mobile data transmission device in the vicinity of the vehicle;

generating billing information utilizing the remote processor, wherein the billing information is based at least in part on the shipping documentation data and wherein the shipping documentation data is received while the one or more articles of freight are en route to a terminal and wherein the billing information is generated in advance of arrival of the one or more articles of freight at an arrival destination.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the shipping documentation data comprises captured image data of a shipping document.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the shipping documentation data comprises data associated with an electronic shipping form.
