Abstract

A set of components that can be used to construct a structurally sound dock are disclosed. The components can be extruded and the components are shaped such that interconnected components provide support for the other components thereby alleviating weak points due to welded only joints. A fascia channel provides additional strength by including structures that improve the vertical and horizontal strength of the fascia channel. HDPE plastic inserts and sheaves provide sound dampening for metal to metal contact points. Other components include a corner connector, a post system and a hinge system.

Claims (35)

1. A dock hinge system comprising:

a first dock platform;

a second dock platform; and

a hinge, wherein the hinge comprises:

at least a pair of first platform mounts engaged with the first dock platform and defining a space there between;

at least a pair of first tubes slidably engaged to the at least a pair of first platform mounts, respectively;

one or more second platform mounts engaged with the second dock platform;

one or more second tubes slidably engaged to the second platform mount; and

a hinge pin; and

wherein one or more of the at least a pair of first platform mounts and the one or more second platform mounts comprise a stop flange configured for limiting a range of motion of the hinge;

wherein when the first dock platform is juxtaposed to the second dock platform, the one or more second tubes are axially aligned with the at least a pair of first tubes such that the hinge pin is extended through the one or more second tubes and the at least a pair of first tubes.

2. A dock hinge system comprising:

a first dock platform;

a second dock platform; and

a hinge, wherein the hinge comprises:

a pair of first platform mounts engaged to the first dock platform and defining a space between;

a pair of first tubes mounted to the first platform mounts, respectively;

a second platform mount engaged to the second dock platform;

a second tube mounted to the second platform mount; and

a hinge pin;

wherein when the first dock platform is juxtaposed to the second dock platform, the second tube is axially aligned with the pair of first tubes such that the hinge pin is extended through the second tube and the pair of first tubes and wherein each of the pair of first tubes and the second tube comprise a protrusion for slidably engaging a platform mount.

3. The dock hinge system of claim 2 , further comprising a hinge sleeve extended through the one or more second tubes and the at least a pair of first tubes such that the hinge sleeve is between the hinge pin and the tubes.

4. The dock system of claim 3 , wherein the hinge sleeve comprises a polymer.

5. The dock system of claim 2 , wherein the hinge pin comprises an integral sleeve.

6. The dock system of claim 5 , wherein the integral sleeve is comprised of a high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic.

7. A dock hinge system comprising:

a first dock platform;

a second dock platform; and

a hinge, wherein the hinge comprises:

a pair of first platform mounts engaged to the first dock platform and defining a space between;

a pair of first tubes mounted to the first platform mounts, respectively;

a second platform mount engaged to the second dock platform;

a second tube mounted to the second platform mount; and

a hinge pin;

wherein when the first dock platform is juxtaposed to the second dock platform, the second tube is axially aligned with the pair of first tubes such that the hinge pin is extended through the second tube and the pair of first tubes and wherein the platform mounts each define an interior channel having a c-shaped cross section.
