Synthetic milk compositions for infants less than three months old and for infants and children more than three months for ensuring optimal growth and preventing obesity
The invention concerns synthetic nutritional formulations, particularly milk based compositions, for infants and children. The compositions are especially adapted to the age of the child. They are adapted to fulfill the nutritional needs of the child, ensuring balanced growth and development and thereby reducing the risk of obesity.
1. A method for promoting balanced growth in an infant up to three months old and reducing a risk of obesity in the infant during infancy and later in life, the method comprising administering to the infant a synthetic nutritional composition that is a foodstuff comprising:
1.0-1.2 g/100 ml protein,
3.8-4.6 g/100 ml lipid, and
at least one phospholipid selected from the group consisting of:
5.4-6.6 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylcholine,
6-7.5 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylethanolamine, and
1.0-1.2 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylinositol.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the balanced growth is defined according to indicators defined by World Health Organization (WHO).
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one phospholipid comprises:
5.4-6.6 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylcholine,
6-7.5 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylethanolamine, and
1.0-1.2 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylinositol.
4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the synthetic nutritional composition comprises whey protein, casein, lactose, vitamins and minerals.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the infant is a preterm infant and/or a caesarean-born infant.
6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the infant was born from a mother having obesity or overweight.
7. The method of claim 4 , wherein the at least one phospholipid comprises:
5.4-6.6 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylcholine,
6-7.5 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylethanolamine, and
1.0-1.2 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylinositol.
8. The method of claim 5 , wherein the at least one phospholipid comprises:
5.4-6.6 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylcholine,
6-7.5 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylethanolamine, and
1.0-1.2 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylinositol.
9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the at least one phospholipid comprises:
5.4-6.6 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylcholine,
6-7.5 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylethanolamine, and
1.0-1.2 mg/100 ml of phosphatidylinositol.
