Abstract

An audio and/or video generation apparatus which is arranged in operation to generate audio and/or video signals representative of an audio and/or video source, the audio and/or video generation apparatus comprising a recording unit which records the audio and/or video signals on a recording medium, wherein the audio and/or video generation apparatus is arranged to receive metadata associated with the audio and/or video signals generated by a data processor, the recording unit records the metadata on the recording medium with the audio and/or video signals. The data processor receives signals representative of the time codes of the recorded audio/video signals, and the metadata includes time code data representative of the in and out points of a take of the audio/video signals generated by the data processor. The metadata also includes unique identification code for identifying the audio/video signals. The unique identification code is a UMID or the like.

Claims (38)

1. A camera comprising:

circuitry configured to

generate metadata related to a motion image signal, and

associate the motion image signal with generated metadata, the motion image signal and the generated metadata being recordable on a recording medium; and

an interface configured to provide bi-directional wireless communication between the circuitry and a portable device,

wherein the interface is configured to communicate at least part of the generated metadata to the portable device for display and the interface is further configured to receive metadata from the portable device for display, the received metadata from the portable device representing at least information related to a scene to be associated with the motion image signal and being based on an input to the portable device.

2. The camera according to claim 1 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least a marker generated during a recording process of the motion image signal.

3. The camera according to claim 2 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least time codes of the motion image signal.

4. The camera according to claim 3 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least an operating parameter of the camera.

5. The camera according to claim 4 , wherein the operating parameter of the camera represents at least one of a shutter speed and an aperture setting.

6. The camera according to claim 1 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least one of identification information of the motion image signal and identification information of the recording medium.

7. The camera according to claim 1 , wherein the recording medium is a random access memory.

8. The camera according to claim 1 , wherein the circuitry is configured to receive the motion image signal.

9. The camera according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a lens.

10. The camera according to claim 1 , wherein the portable device includes a screen to display the at least part of the generated metadata received from the camera.

11. A method for generating metadata by a camera comprising:

generating metadata related to a motion image signal, and

associating the motion image signal with the generated metadata to record the motion image signal and the generated metadata;

wirelessly communicating, by an interface configured to provide bi-directional wireless communication between the camera and a portable device, at least part of the generated metadata to the portable device for display; and

receiving, by the interface, from the portable device metadata for display, the received metadata from the portable device representing at least information related to a scene to be associated with the motion image signal and being based on an input to the portable device.

12. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least a marker generated during a recording process of the motion image signal.

13. The method according to claim 12 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least time codes of the motion image signal.

14. The method according to claim 13 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least an operating parameter of the camera.

15. The method according to claim 14 , wherein the operating parameter represents at least one of a shutter speed and an aperture setting.

16. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the generated metadata represents at least one of identification information of the motion image signal and identification information of the recording medium.

17. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the recording medium is a random access memory.

18. The method according to claim 11 , further comprising:

receiving the motion image signal.

19. The method according to claim 11 , wherein the portable device includes a screen to display the at least part of the generated metadata received from the camera.

20. A system comprising:

a portable device; and

a camera including

circuitry configured to

generate metadata related to a motion image signal, and

associate the motion image signal with the generated metadata to record the motion image signal and the generated metadata, and

an interface configured to provide bi-directional wireless communication between the circuitry and the portable device,

wherein the interface is configured to communicate at least part of the generated metadata to the portable device for display and is configured to receive from the portable device metadata for display, the received metadata from the portable device representing at least information related to a scene to be associated with the motion image signal and being based on an input to the portable device.
