Abstract

The present invention is a wireless transmission system for a prosthetic apparatus including a mounting system to be worn on a body, a wound wire transmission coil mounted to the mounting system and sending a stimulation signal, an implantable receiving coil receiving the stimulation signal and connected to a hermetic electronics package, an implantable telemetry transmitting coil connected to the hermetic electronics package, and a telemetry receiving coil printed on a printed circuit board, mounted to the mounting system and receiving the telemetry signal.

Claims (14)

1. A wireless transmission system for visual prosthesis comprising:

a frame suitable to be worn on a body;

a mounting system connected by a flexible connector to the frame;

a wound wire transmission coil mounted to the mounting system suitable to send a stimulation signal;

an implantable receiving coil receiving the stimulation signal and connected to a hermetic electronics package;

an implantable telemetry transmitting coil connected to the hermetic electronics package; and

a telemetry receiving coil printed on a printed circuit board, mounted to the mounting system receiving the telemetry signal.

2. The wireless transmission system according to claim 1 , further comprising a second telemetry receiving coil printed on a printed circuit board mounted to the mounting system and receiving the telemetry signal.

3. The wireless transmission system according to claim 2 , wherein the telemetry receiving coil is mounted to the mounting system on a first side of the transmission coil and the second telemetry receiving coils are mounted to the mounting system on a second side of the transmission coil.

4. The wireless transmission system according to claim 1 , wherein the mounting system includes a flexible connector to improve alignment of the transmission coil, implantable receiving coil, implantable telemetry transmitting coil and telemetry receiving coil.

5. The wireless transmission system according to claim 1 , further comprising RF circuitry mounted to the mounting system.

6. The wireless transmission system according to claim 1 , wherein the mounting system is in the form of a pair of glasses.

7. The wireless transmission system according to claim 1 , further comprising a camera mounted to the mounting system.

8. The wireless transmission system according to claim 7 , wherein the camera is mounted to a bridge of the mounting system.
