Abstract

A method for treating ear infections in animals includes forming a liquid composition having an antifungal agent, an antibiotic agent, a steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, an anhydrous organic acid, liquid dehydrated alcohol, and propylene glycol. The treatment method includes applying several drops of such composition inside the ear of the animal at least twice per day to the affected area of the animal's ear until the ear infection has been cured. The antifungal agent may include ketoconazole. The antibiotic agent may include ofloxacin. The steroidal anti-inflammatory agent may include triamcinolone diacetate. The anhydrous organic acid may include citric acid.

Claims (8)

1. A method of topically treating ear infections in animals, said method comprising the steps of:

a. forming a liquid composition comprising an antifungal agent, an antibiotic agent, a steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, an anhydrous organic acid, liquid dehydrated alcohol, and propylene glycol; and

b. applying the composition formed in step a) inside the ear of the animal at least twice per day until the ear infection has been cured.

2. The method recited by claim 1 wherein the antifungal agent includes ketoconazole.

3. The method recited by claim 1 wherein the antibiotic agent includes ofloxacin.

4. The method recited by claim 1 wherein the steroidal anti-inflammatory agent includes triamcinolone diacetate.

5. The method recited by claim 1 wherein the anhydrous organic acid includes citric acid.

6. The method recited by claim 5 wherein the antifungal agent includes ketoconazole, the antibiotic agent includes ofloxacin, and the steroidal anti-inflammatory agent includes triamcinolone diacetate.
