Abstract

A system includes a first device to select and transmit a first code by a transmitter to a remote device; the remote device implements a sequence detector based on the first code; the transmitter in the first device generates a first sequence based on the first code; the sequence detector in the remote device detects the first sequence and activates the mechanism based on the detection; the first device may be a smartphone or a smart watch.

the apparatus is configured to disable the first code and to disable the first signal sequence generator on the apparatus after transmission of the first code and the apparatus is configured to activate a next code in the plurality of codes for retrieval and to enable a next signal sequence generator in the plurality of signal sequence generators associated with the next code after transmission of the first code.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the next code becomes the first code and the next signal sequence generator becomes the first signal sequence generator.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

each code in the plurality of codes determines a different sequence of signals.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

each code in the plurality of codes corresponds to a different configuration of a sequence generator on the processor of the apparatus.

5. The apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the memory contains at least 25,000 (twenty-five thousand) different generator configurations.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein each generator configuration has at least 25,000 different initial generating states.

7. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the apparatus is configured to be activated to transmit the first code and to configure the first signal sequence generator on the processor of the apparatus to generate the sequence of signals.

8. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein each code in the plurality of codes is at least 5 bytes long.

9. The apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:

a receiver of the remote apparatus enabled to wirelessly receive signals transmitted by the transmitter of the apparatus;

a processor of the remote apparatus is configured to retrieve from a memory of the remote apparatus based on the first code received by the receiver of the remote apparatus from the transmitter of the apparatus, a configuration of the first signal sequence detector and to execute instructions to detect the sequence of signals; and

the processor of the remote apparatus is configured to determine with the first signal sequence detector that a received sequence of signals is the sequence of signals and to activate the device of the remote apparatus.

10. The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the processor of the remote apparatus is configured to disable the configuration of the first signal sequence detector after the first code has been received by the receiver.

11. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the sequence of signals is generated by a shift register based sequence generator of which a configuration is stored in the memory of the apparatus.

12. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein:

the sequence of signals is generated by a modified Secure Hash Standard (SHA) message digest.

13. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the device is one of the group consisting of a motor, a lock, a bolt and a processor that requires validation for an operation to proceed.

14. A method, comprising:

retrieving by a processor on an apparatus of a first code in a plurality of codes stored on a memory, each code in the plurality of codes being represented by one or more symbols, the first code identifying a signal sequence generator associated with the first code;

installing the signal sequence generator associated with the first code being installed on the processor after retrieving the first code from the memory and wherein each of the plurality of codes identifies a different signal sequence generator;

transmitting by a transmitter of the apparatus of the first code to a receiver of a remote device;

generating by the signal sequence generator associated with the first code of the sequence of signals;

transmitting by the transmitter the sequence of signals to the receiver of the remote device;

activating on a processor of the remote device a signal sequence detector associated with the first code received from the apparatus;

detecting by the signal sequence detector associated with the first code the sequence of signals received from the apparatus;

activating an element of the remote device after the sequence of signals has been detected by the signal sequence detector associated with the first code;

disabling for retrieval the first code on the memory of the apparatus and disabling the signal sequence generator associated with the first code;

disabling the signal sequence detector associated with the first code after the first code has been received by the receiver of the remote device; and

the processor of the apparatus enabling a next code and a next signal sequence generator associated with the next code.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the codes in the plurality of codes have an order and all codes in the ordered plurality of codes that precede in order a received code are disabled.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein the element of the remote device includes one of the group consisting of a motor, a lock, a bolt and a processor that requires validation.

17. The method of claim 14 , wherein the first sequence of signals is generated by a modified Secure Hash Standard message digest.
