Method of preventing or treating influenza with oxidative reductive potential water solution
Provided is a method for preventing or treating influenza by administering a therapeutically effective amount of an oxidative reduction potential (ORP) water solution that is stable for at least about twenty-four hours. The ORP water solution administered in accordance with the invention can be combined with one or more suitable carriers. The ORP water solution can be administered alone or, e.g., in combination with one or more additional therapeutic agents.
1. A method of treating or preventing a viral infection in a patient comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of an oxidative reductive potential water solution to an infectious virus present on a surface of a tissue, wherein the infectious virus is an influenza virus, wherein the solution comprises about 10 ppm to about 400 ppm of free chlorine species selected from hypochlorous acid, hypochlorite ions, sodium hypochlorite, chlorite ions, chloride ion, chlorine dioxide, dissolved chlorine gas, and mixtures thereof, wherein the solution comprises a mixture of anode water and cathode water, the pH of the ORP water solution is between about 6.2 and about 7.8, and wherein the solution is stable for at least two months, wherein the solution is administered by aerosolization, nebulization and atomization.
2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the influenza virus is an influenza A virus.
3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the solution comprises about 50 ppm to about 200 ppm of free chlorine species.
4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the free chlorine species comprises from about 15 ppm to about 35 ppm of hypochlorous acid and from about 25 ppm to about 50 ppm of sodium hypochlorite.
5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the solution comprises from about 10% by volume to about 50% by volume of cathode water and from about 50% by volume to about 90% by volume of anode water.
