Abstract

Systems and methods for providing autonomous vehicle assistance are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising recording an image of a scene surrounding an autonomous vehicle; classifying the image using a machine learning system, the classifying comprising identifying whether the image includes a danger; determining whether the autonomous vehicle is able to respond to the danger in response to identifying that the image includes the danger; and executing one or more security maneuvers, the security maneuvers manipulating the operation of the autonomous vehicle in response to the danger.

Claims (66)

1. A method comprising:

recording an image of a scene surrounding an autonomous vehicle while the autonomous vehicle is being operated;

classifying the image using a machine learning system, the classifying comprising identifying that the image includes a danger;

confirming that the autonomous vehicle is currently unoccupied in response to identifying that the image includes the danger;

disabling autonomous routing of the autonomous vehicle; and

executing one or more security maneuvers, the security maneuvers manipulating the operation of the autonomous vehicle in response to the danger, the manipulating causing the autonomous vehicle to navigate toward a location of the danger.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining that the autonomous vehicle is currently occupied; and

triggering an alert.

3. The method of claim 2 , the triggering an alert comprising one or more of:

triggering a horn of the autonomous vehicle;

flashing one or more lights of the autonomous vehicle;

dialing an emergency number;

varying a speed of the autonomous vehicle; or

temporarily varying the trajectory of the autonomous vehicle.

4. The method of claim 1 , the classifying the image using a machine learning system further comprising extracting one or more facial identifiers of persons included within the image.

5. The method of claim 4 , the classifying the image using a machine learning system further comprising determining biometric attributes of each person included within the image.

6. The method of claim 1 , the executing one or more security maneuvers comprising:

moving the autonomous vehicle to a location associated with the danger; and

triggering an audible alarm upon reaching the location.

7. The method of claim 1 , the executing one or more security maneuvers comprising dialing an emergency number.

8. The method of claim 1 , the executing one or more security maneuvers comprising:

moving the autonomous vehicle to a location associated with the danger;

unlocking at least one door of the autonomous vehicle;

detecting that a person has entered the autonomous vehicle;

locking the doors; and

moving the autonomous vehicle to a predetermined location.

9. The method of claim 8 , the detecting that a person has entered the autonomous vehicle comprising comparing a facial identifier of the person to a second facial identifier of a person included in the image.

10. A method comprising:

receiving an identification of a vehicle;

retrieving a current location of the vehicle;

identifying a set of nearby autonomous vehicles based on the current location;

re-routing each of the nearby autonomous vehicles to drive to the current location;

continuously monitoring the location of the vehicle; and

positioning each of the nearby autonomous vehicles around the vehicle and gradually decreasing the speed of each of the autonomous vehicles.

11. The method of claim 10 , the vehicle comprising a suspect autonomous vehicle and the method further comprising transmitting an ECU signal to the suspect autonomous vehicle, the ECU signal causing the suspect autonomous vehicle to stop an engine of the suspect autonomous vehicle.

12. An autonomous vehicle comprising:

at least one digital camera for recording an image of a scene surrounding the autonomous vehicle while the autonomous vehicle is being operated;

at least one engine control unit (ECU) configured to control operation of the autonomous vehicle;

a processor configured to:

classify the image using a machine learning system, the classifying comprising identifying that the image includes a danger;

confirming that the autonomous vehicle is currently unoccupied in response to identifying that the image includes the danger;

disabling autonomous routing of the autonomous vehicle; and

execute one or more security maneuvers by controlling the at least one ECU, the security maneuvers manipulating the operation of the autonomous vehicle in response to the danger, the manipulating causing the autonomous vehicle to navigate toward a location of the danger.

13. The autonomous vehicle of claim 12 , the processor further configured to:

determine that the autonomous vehicle is currently occupied; and

trigger an alert.

14. The autonomous vehicle of claim 13 , the triggering an alert comprising one or more of:

triggering a horn of the autonomous vehicle;

flashing one or more lights of the autonomous vehicle;

dialing an emergency number;

varying a speed of the autonomous vehicle; or

temporarily varying the trajectory of the autonomous vehicle.

15. The autonomous vehicle of claim 12 , the classifying the image using a machine learning system further comprising extracting one or more facial identifiers of persons included within the image.

16. The autonomous vehicle of claim 15 , the classifying the image using a machine learning system further comprising determining biometric attributes of each person included within the image.

17. The autonomous vehicle of claim 12 , the executing one or more security maneuvers comprising:

moving the autonomous vehicle to a location associated with the danger; and

triggering an audible alarm upon reaching the location.

18. The autonomous vehicle of claim 12 , the executing one or more security maneuvers comprising dialing an emergency number.

19. The autonomous vehicle of claim 12 , the executing one or more security maneuvers comprising:

moving the autonomous vehicle to a location associated with the danger;

unlocking at least one door of the autonomous vehicle;

detecting that a person has entered the autonomous vehicle;

locking the doors; and

moving the autonomous vehicle to a predetermined location.

20. The autonomous vehicle of claim 19 , the detecting that a person has entered the autonomous vehicle comprising comparing a facial identifier of the person to a second facial identifier of a person included in the image.
