Abstract

There is provided an image processing apparatus including a display image generation section configured to generate display image data by performing a display projection process in a case where panorama image data to be a display target is judged to be a full circumference panorama image.

Claims (49)

1. An image processing apparatus comprising:

a circuit configured to:

generate a panorama image including at least a full circumference panorama image and a partial circumference panorama image based on a capturing mode;

generate metadata relating to the generated panorama image that provides an indication that the panorama image is a full circumference panorama image;

generate a panorama image file based on the generated panorama image and the metadata;

control display processing of the panorama image file by performing a display projection process on the generated panorama image when the metadata indicates that the panorama image file is a full circumference panorama image, wherein the display projection process is a process in which the panorama image is generated by projecting image data onto a plurality of virtual plane surfaces arranged at predetermined angular intervals about a projection center”, so that the corresponding paragraph becomes “control display processing of the panorama image file by performing a display projection process on the generated panorama image when the metadata indicates that the panorama image file is a full circumference panorama image, wherein the display projection process is a process in which the panorama image is generated by projecting image data onto a plurality of virtual plane surfaces arranged at predetermined angular intervals about a projection center; and

control display processing of the panorama image file by performing a process other than the display projection process when the metadata indicates that the panorama image is not a full circumference panorama image.

2. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 ,

wherein the metadata includes panorama mode type information based on the capturing mode.

3. The image processing apparatus according to claim 2 ,

wherein the panorama mode type information provides an indication of a mode type of the full circumference panorama image or the partial circumference panorama image.

4. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1

wherein the process other than display projection process is a scroll process.

5. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1

the circuit further configured to:

control display processing of the panorama image file in accordance with a user input to provide a single view of the generated panorama image in which an entirety of the generated panorama image is displayed in one image.

6. The image processing apparatus according to claim 5

wherein the single view is switched to a list view in which a thumbnail image of the panorama image file is displayed, in accordance with a user other input.

7. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the metadata includes a horizontal viewing angle and a vertical viewing angle.

8. The image processing apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the circuit is configured to control the display projection process such that changing the horizontal viewing angle and the vertical viewing angle of a virtual plane surface screen produces a display which provides a view in a horizontal and vertical direction as in a scroll display.

9. The image processing apparatus according to claim 7 , wherein the horizontal viewing angle and the vertical viewing angle is used by the circuit to restrict a display range.

10. An image processing method, comprising:

generating a panorama image including at least a full circumference panorama image and a partial circumference panorama image based on a capturing mode;

generating metadata relating to the generated panorama image that provides an indication that the panorama image is a full circumference panorama image;

generating a panorama image file based on the generated panorama image and the metadata;

controlling display processing of the panorama image file by performing a display projection process on the generated panorama image when the metadata indicates that the panorama image file is a full circumference panorama image, wherein the display projection process is a process in which the panorama image is generated by projecting image data onto a plurality of virtual plane surfaces arranged at predetermined angular intervals about a projection center”, so that the corresponding paragraph becomes “controlling display processing of the panorama image file by performing a display projection process on the generated panorama image when the metadata indicates that the panorama image file is a full circumference panorama image, wherein the display projection process is a process in which the panorama image is generated by projecting image data onto a plurality of virtual plane surfaces arranged at predetermined angular intervals about a projection center; and

controlling display processing of the panorama image file by performing a process other than the display projection process when the metadata indicates that the panorama image is not a full circumference panorama image.

11. The image processing method according to claim 8 ,

wherein the metadata includes panorama mode type information based on the capturing mode.

12. The image processing method according to claim 9 ,

wherein the panorama mode type information provides an indication of a mode type of the full circumference panorama image or the partial circumference panorama image.

13. The image processing method according to claim 8 ,

wherein the process other than display projection process is a scroll process.

14. The image processing method according to claim 10 , further comprising:

controlling the display processing of the panorama image file in accordance with a user input to provide a single view of the generated panorama image in which an entirety of the generated panorama image is displayed in one image.

15. The image processing apparatus according to claim 13

wherein the single view is switched to a list view in which a thumbnail image of the panorama image file is displayed, in accordance with a user other input.

16. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing programming instructions that cause one more processing devices to execute an image processing method, the method comprising:

generating a panorama image including at least a full circumference panorama image and a partial circumference panorama image based on a capturing mode;

generating metadata relating to the generated panorama image that provides an indication that the panorama image is a full circumference panorama image;

generating a panorama image file based on the generated panorama image and the metadata;

controlling display processing of the panorama image file by performing a display projection process on the generated panorama image when the metadata indicates that the panorama image file is a full circumference panorama image, wherein the display projection process is a process in which the panorama image is generated by projecting image data onto a plurality of virtual plane surfaces arranged at predetermined angular intervals about a projection center”, so that the corresponding paragraph becomes “controlling display processing of the panorama image file by performing a display projection process on the generated panorama image when the metadata indicates that the panorama image file is a full circumference panorama image, wherein the display projection process is a process in which the panorama image is generated by projecting image data onto a plurality of virtual plane surfaces arranged at predetermined angular intervals about a projection center; and

controlling display processing of the panorama image file by performing a process other than the display projection process when the metadata indicates that the panorama image is not a full circumference panorama image.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 15 , further comprising:

controlling the display processing of the panorama image file in accordance with a user input to provide a single view of the generated panorama image in which an entirety of the generated panorama image is displayed in one image.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium according to claim 15 , wherein the metadata includes panorama mode type information based on the capturing mode.

19. The image processing method according to claim 18 ,

wherein the panorama mode type information provides an indication of a mode type of the full circumference panorama image or the partial circumference panorama image.

20. The image processing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the metadata includes combination surface information that indicates a type of projection surface used to generate the panorama image.
