Abstract

Electronic documents may be large and have numerous pages, sections and areas of information that are useful to some individuals and not others. It is common for large documents to include some information that is intended for only certain recipients and other information that is intended for other recipients. One example may provide receiving a document including a number of pages, identifying a number of extraction attributes corresponding to various users identified in the document, querying the document for the extraction attributes, and creating a number of new documents corresponding to the extraction attributes.

Claims (67)

1. A method, comprising:

identifying coordinates for a unique identifier within a document, the unique identifier identifying a location of a particular portion of the document;

creating a bursting template that maps the particular portion of the document based on the coordinates;

identifying one or more extraction attributes corresponding to one or more users identified in the particular portion of the document;

creating, based on the bursting template, one or more new documents corresponding to the one or more users;

searching the one or more new documents around the coordinates to locate one or more potential identifiers in a text format;

validating the one or more potential identifiers;

extracting a subset of the text that makes up the one or more potential identifiers;

generating a summary containing the one or more extraction attributes, the one or more users, and a link corresponding to each user of the one or more users;

sending the summary to the one or more users;

providing a link to a document, of the one or more new documents, to a user, of the one or more users, in response to the user selecting a corresponding link in the summary;

selecting one of the links; and

validating a correct operation of the bursting template.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more extraction attributes comprise at least one of a user identifier and a user name.

3. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

identifying a position of the unique identifier, the position comprising left justified, center justified, right justified, top justified, middle justified, or bottom justified.

4. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

querying the document for the one or more extraction attributes, a number of pages for each new document, and coordinates of the unique identifier.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the bursting template comprises:

x and y page coordinates to be used, a number of header or footer pages to skip, and a number of pages per record.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more notifications comprise e-mail messages.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more new documents corresponds to a number of persons identified in the document.

8. An apparatus, comprising:

a processor to:

identify coordinates for a unique identifier within a document, the unique identifier identifying a location of a particular portion of the document;

create a bursting template that maps the particular portion of the document based on the coordinates;

identify one or more extraction attributes corresponding to one or more users identified in the particular portion of the document;

create, based on the bursting template, one or more new documents corresponding to the one or more users;

search the one or more new documents around the coordinates to locate one or more potential identifiers in a text format;

validate the one or more potential identifiers;

extract a subset of the text that makes up the one or more potential identifiers;

generate a summary containing the one or more extraction attributes, the one or more users, and a link corresponding to each user of the one or more users;

send the summary to the one or more users;

provide a link to a document, of the one or more new documents, to a user, of the one or more users, in response to the user selecting a corresponding link in the summary;

select one of the links; and

validate a correct operation of the bursting template.

9. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more extraction attributes comprise at least one of a user identifier and a user name.

10. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the processor further is to:

identify a position of the unique identifier, the position comprising left justified, center justified, right justified, top justified, middle justified, or bottom justified.

11. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the processor further is to:

query the document for the one or more extraction attributes, a number of pages for each new document, and coordinates of the unique identifier.

12. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the bursting template comprises:

x and y page coordinates to be used, a number of header or footer pages to skip, and a number of pages per record.

13. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more notifications comprise e-mail messages.

14. The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the one or more new documents corresponds to a number of persons identified in the document.

15. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium configured to store one or more instructions that when executed by a processor causes the processor to perform:

identifying coordinates for a unique identifier within a document, the unique identifier identifying a location of a particular portion of the document;

creating a bursting template that maps the particular portion of the document based on the coordinates;

identifying one or more extraction attributes corresponding to one or more users identified in the particular portion of the document;

creating, based on the bursting template, one or more new documents corresponding to the one or more users;

searching the one or more new documents around the coordinates to locate one or more potential identifiers in a text format;

validating the one or more potential identifiers;

extracting a subset of the text that makes up the one or more potential identifiers;

generating a summary containing the one or more extraction attributes, the one or more users, and a link corresponding to each user of the one or more users;

sending the summary to the one or more users;

providing a link to a document, of the one or more new documents, to a user, of the one or more users, in response to the user selecting a corresponding link in the summary;

selecting one of the links; and

validating a correct operation of the bursting template.

16. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the one or more extraction attributes comprise at least one of a user identifier and a user name.

17. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the one or more instructions are further to cause the processor to perform:

identifying a position of the unique identifier, the position comprising left justified, center justified, right justified, top justified, middle justified, or bottom justified.

18. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , the one or more instructions are further to cause the processor to perform:

querying the document for the one or more extraction attributes, a number of pages for each new document, and coordinates of the unique identifier.

19. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the bursting template comprises:

x and y page coordinates to be used, a number of header or footer pages to skip, and a number of pages per record.

20. The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the one or more notifications comprise:

e-mail messages, and wherein the one or more new documents corresponds to a number of persons identified in the document.
