Abstract

A multicolor light-emitting element using fluorescence and phosphorescence, which has a small number of manufacturing steps owing to a relatively small number of layers to be formed and is advantageous for practical application can be provided. In addition, a multicolor light-emitting element using fluorescence and phosphorescence, which has favorable emission efficiency is provided. A light-emitting element which includes a light-emitting layer having a stacked-layer structure of a first light-emitting layer exhibiting light emission from a first exciplex and a second light-emitting layer exhibiting phosphorescence is provided.

Claims (148)

1. A light-emitting element comprising:

a first light-emitting layer between a first electrode and a second electrode;

a second light-emitting layer in contact with the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer being between the first electrode and the second electrode;

wherein the first light-emitting layer includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound,

wherein the second light-emitting layer includes a third organic compound and a phosphorescent compound,

wherein each of a triplet excited level of the first organic compound and the second organic compound is higher than a triplet excited level of the phosphorescent compound,

wherein a combination of the first organic compound and the second organic compound forms a first exciplex, and

wherein light emitted from the first light-emitting layer have an emission peak on shorter wavelength side than light emitted from the second light-emitting layer.

2. The light-emitting element according to claim 1 ,

wherein the first light-emitting layer further includes a dopant.

3. The light-emitting element according to claim 2 ,

wherein the dopant is a light-emitting substance.

4. A light-emitting module including the light-emitting element according to claim 1 , the light-emitting module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

5. A display module including the light-emitting element according to claim 1 in a display portion, the display module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

6. A lighting device including the light-emitting element according to claim 1 .

7. A light-emitting device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 1 ; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

8. A display device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 1 in a display portion; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

9. An electronic appliance including the light-emitting element according to claim 1 .

10. A light-emitting element comprising:

a first light-emitting layer between a first electrode and a second electrode;

a second light-emitting layer in contact with the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer being between the first electrode and the second electrode;

wherein the first light-emitting layer includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound,

wherein the first organic compound comprises a material having an electron-transport property and the second organic compound comprises a material having a hole-transport property,

wherein the second light-emitting layer includes a third organic compound and a phosphorescent compound,

wherein each of a triplet excited level of the first organic compound and the second organic compound is higher than a triplet excited level of the phosphorescent compound,

wherein a combination of the first organic compound and the second organic compound forms a first exciplex, and

wherein light emitted from the first light-emitting layer have an emission peak on shorter wavelength side than light emitted from the second light-emitting layer.

11. The light-emitting element according to claim 10 ,

wherein the first light-emitting layer further includes a dopant.

12. The light-emitting element according to claim 11 ,

wherein the dopant is a light-emitting substance.

13. A light-emitting module including the light-emitting element according to claim 10 , the light-emitting module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

14. A display module including the light-emitting element according to claim 10 in a display portion, the display module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

15. A lighting device including the light-emitting element according to claim 10 .

16. A light-emitting device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 10 ; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

17. A display device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 10 in a display portion; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

18. An electronic appliance including the light-emitting element according to claim 10 .

19. A light-emitting element comprising:

a first light-emitting layer between a first electrode and a second electrode;

a second light-emitting layer in contact with the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer being between the first electrode and the second electrode;

wherein the first light-emitting layer includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound,

wherein the first organic compound is a heterocyclic compound and the second organic compound is a compound having an aromatic amine skeleton or a carbazole skeleton,

wherein the second light-emitting layer includes a third organic compound and a phosphorescent compound,

wherein each of a triplet excited level of the first organic compound and the second organic compound is higher than a triplet excited level of the phosphorescent compound,

wherein a combination of the first organic compound and the second organic compound forms a first exciplex, and

wherein light emitted from the first light-emitting layer have an emission peak on shorter wavelength side than light emitted from the second light-emitting layer.

20. The light-emitting element according to claim 19 ,

wherein the first light-emitting layer further includes a dopant.

21. The light-emitting element according to claim 20 ,

wherein the dopant is a light-emitting substance.

22. A light-emitting module including the light-emitting element according to claim 19 , the light-emitting module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

23. A display module including the light-emitting element according to claim 19 in a display portion, the display module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

24. A lighting device including the light-emitting element according to claim 19 .

25. A light-emitting device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 19 ; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

26. A display device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 19 in a display portion; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

27. An electronic appliance including the light-emitting element according to claim 19 .

28. A light-emitting element comprising:

a first light-emitting layer between a first electrode and a second electrode;

a second light-emitting layer in contact with the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer being between the first electrode and the second electrode;

wherein the first light-emitting layer includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound,

wherein the second light-emitting layer includes a third organic compound, a phosphorescent compound, and a fourth organic compound,

wherein each of a triplet excited level of the first organic compound and the second organic compound is higher than a triplet excited level of the phosphorescent compound,

wherein a combination of the first organic compound and the second organic compound forms a first exciplex, and a combination of the third organic compound and the fourth organic compound forms a second exciplex and

wherein light emitted from the first light-emitting layer have an emission peak on shorter wavelength side than light emitted from the second light-emitting layer.

29. The light-emitting element according to claim 28 ,

wherein the first light-emitting layer further includes a dopant.

30. The light-emitting element according to claim 29 ,

wherein the dopant is a light-emitting substance.

31. A light-emitting module including the light-emitting element according to claim 28 , the light-emitting module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

32. A display module including the light-emitting element according to claim 28 in a display portion, the display module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

33. A lighting device including the light-emitting element according to claim 28 .

34. A light-emitting device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 28 ; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

35. A display device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 28 in a display portion; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

36. An electronic appliance including the light-emitting element according to claim 28 .

37. A light-emitting element comprising:

a first light-emitting layer between a first electrode and a second electrode;

a second light-emitting layer in contact with the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer being between the first electrode and the second electrode;

wherein the first light-emitting layer includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound,

wherein the first organic compound comprises a material having an electron-transport property and the second organic compound comprises a material having a hole-transport property,

wherein the second light-emitting layer includes a third organic compound, a phosphorescent compound, and a fourth organic compound,

wherein each of a triplet excited level of the first organic compound and the second organic compound is higher than a triplet excited level of the phosphorescent compound,

wherein a combination of the first organic compound and the second organic compound forms a first exciplex, and a combination of the third organic compound and the fourth organic compound forms a second exciplex and

wherein light emitted from the first light-emitting layer have an emission peak on shorter wavelength side than light emitted from the second light-emitting layer.

38. The light-emitting element according to claim 37 ,

wherein the first light-emitting layer further includes a dopant.

39. The light-emitting element according to claim 38 ,

wherein the dopant is a light-emitting substance.

40. A light-emitting module including the light-emitting element according to claim 37 , the light-emitting module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

41. A display module including the light-emitting element according to claim 37 in a display portion, the display module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

42. A lighting device including the light-emitting element according to claim 37 .

43. A light-emitting device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 37 ; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

44. A display device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 37 in a display portion; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

45. An electronic appliance including the light-emitting element according to claim 37 .

46. A light-emitting element comprising:

a first light-emitting layer between a first electrode and a second electrode;

a second light-emitting layer in contact with the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer being between the first electrode and the second electrode;

wherein the first light-emitting layer includes a first organic compound and a second organic compound,

wherein the first organic compound is a heterocyclic compound and the second organic compound is a compound having an aromatic amine skeleton or a carbazole skeleton,

wherein the second light-emitting layer includes a third organic compound, a phosphorescent compound, and a fourth organic compound,

wherein each of a triplet excited level of the first organic compound and the second organic compound is higher than a triplet excited level of the phosphorescent compound,

wherein a combination of the first organic compound and the second organic compound forms a first exciplex, and a combination of the third organic compound and the fourth organic compound forms a second exciplex and

wherein light emitted from the first light-emitting layer have an emission peak on shorter wavelength side than light emitted from the second light-emitting layer.

47. The light-emitting element according to claim 46 ,

wherein the first light-emitting layer further includes a dopant.

48. The light-emitting element according to claim 47 ,

wherein the dopant is a light-emitting substance.

49. A light-emitting module including the light-emitting element according to claim 46 , the light-emitting module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

50. A display module including the light-emitting element according to claim 46 in a display portion, the display module comprising:

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

51. A lighting device including the light-emitting element according to claim 46 .

52. A light-emitting device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 46 ; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

53. A display device comprising:

the light-emitting element according to claim 46 in a display portion; and

a means for controlling the light-emitting element.

54. An electronic appliance including the light-emitting element according to claim 46 .
