Abstract

A polypeptide comprising the sequence of SEQ. ID NO. 2, 3, 4, 7 or 8. The polypeptide may have the sequence of an immunogenic fragment thereof comprising at least eight amino acids, wherein the immunogenic fragment is not one of SEQ. ID NOS. 6 or 11 to 16. The polypeptide may have a sequence having at least 80% sequence identity to the aforementioned polypeptide or immunogenic fragment. The polypeptide is less than 100 amino acids in length and does not comprise the sequence of any of SEQ. ID NOS. 10, 46, 56, 57 or 59 to 62 and does not consist of the sequence of SEQ ID NO. 58. The polypeptide is useful in the treatment or prophylaxis of cancer.

Claims (22)

1. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide comprising a sequence selected from the group consisting of:

i) SEQ ID NO: 1; and

ii) the sequence of a fragment of i) comprising at least 20 amino acids,

wherein the polypeptide is for eliciting a CD4+ and/or a CD8+ T-cell response and further comprises amino acids

at the N and/or C termini that are different from those present in a naturally occurring telomerase enzyme,

and wherein the pharmaceutical composition further comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant, diluent or excipient.

2. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide does not comprise the sequence of SEQ ID NOS: 10 or 62.

3. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 , wherein the polypeptide is less than 100 amino acids in length.

4. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule consists of the nucleotide sequence encoding the polypeptide.

5. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises a further therapeutic ingredient.

6. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule is present in a dose of between 1 and 500 μg.

7. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule is coupled to an immunogenic carrier.

8. A nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a polypeptide comprising a sequence selected from the group consisting of:

i) SEQ ID NO: 1; and

ii) the sequence of a fragment of i) comprising at least 20 amino acids, wherein the nucleotide sequence which encodes SEQ ID NO: 1 or the fragment thereof is different from that comprised within a naturally occurring human telomerase reverse transcriptase gene.

9. A nucleic acid molecule according to claim 8 , wherein the polypeptide does not comprise the sequence of SEQ ID NOS: 10 or 62.

10. A nucleic acid molecule according to claim 8 , wherein the polypeptide is less than 100 amino acids in length.

11. A nucleic acid molecule according to claim 8 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule consists of the nucleotide sequence encoding the polypeptide.

12. A pharmaceutical composition comprising the nucleic acid molecule according to claim 8 and a pharmaceutically acceptable adjuvant, diluent or excipient.

13. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 12 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises a further therapeutic ingredient.

14. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 12 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule is present in a dose of between 1 and 500 μg.

15. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 12 , wherein the nucleic acid molecule is coupled to an immunogenic carrier.
