Abstract

A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition including a base oil and fullerene, wherein the fullerene is dissolved, and the concentration is 1 ppm by mass or more and less than 50 ppm by mass.

Claims (33)

1. A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition comprising:

a base oil; and

fullerene,

wherein the fullerene is dissolved, and a concentration thereof iso 2 ppm by mass or more and less than 50 ppm by mass, and

wherein the base oil is mineral oil.

2. The fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 1 , wherein the fullerene is a mixture including C 60 and C 70 .

3. The fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 1 , further comprising an additive.

4. A method for producing the fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 1 , the method comprising:

a step of mixing a base oil and a fullerene raw material, dissolving a soluble component of the fullerene raw material in the base oil, and obtaining a mixture of the base oil and fullerene; and

a step of removing an insoluble component included in the mixture.

The method for producing the fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 4 , further comprising, after the step of removing an insoluble component, a step of diluting the fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition obtained in the step of removing the insoluble component, with the base oil.

6. The fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 2 , further comprising an additive.

7. A method for producing the fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 2 , the method comprising:

a step of mixing a base oil and a fullerene raw material, dissolving a soluble component of the fullerene raw material in the base oil, and obtaining a mixture of the base oil and fullerene; and

a step of removing an insoluble component included in the mixture.

8. A method for producing the fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition according to claim 3 , the method comprising:

a step of mixing a base oil and a fullerene raw material, dissolving a soluble component of the fullerene raw material in the base oil, and obtaining a mixture of the base oil and fullerene; and

a step of removing an insoluble component included in the mixture.

9. A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the composition consists of:

base oil;

fullerene; and

optionally one or more additives selected from dibutylhydroxytoluene (BHT), butylhydroxyanisole (BHA), 2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (DBPC), a 3-arylbenzofuran-2-one (an intramolecular cyclic ester of a hydroxycarboxylic acid), phenyl-α-naphthylamine, a dialkyldiphenylamine, benzotriazole, polyalkylstyrene, a hydride additive of a styrene-diene copolymer, dibenzyl disulfide, an allyl phosphoric acid ester, an allyl phosphorous acid ester, an amine salt of an allyl phosphoric acid ester, an allyl thiophosphoric acid ester, an amine salt of an allyl thiophosphoric acid ester, naphthenic acid, benzylamine succinic acid derivative, an alkylphenolamine, a chlorinated paraffin-naphthalene condensate, a chlorinated paraffin-phenol condensate, a polyalkylstyrene-based compound, an alkylbenzene sulfonic acid salt, and a dialkylnaphthalene sulfonic acid salt,

wherein the fullerene is dissolved, and a concentration thereof is 2 ppm by mass or more and less than 50 ppm by mass, and

wherein the base oil is mineral oil.

10. A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the composition consists of:

base oil;

fullerene; and

optionally one or more additives selected from an oxidation inhibitor, a viscosity index improver, an extreme pressure additive, a detergent dispersant, a pour point depressant, a corrosion inhibitor, a solid lubricant, an oiliness improver, a rust preventive additive, a demulsifier, a defoaming agent, and a hydrolysis inhibitor,

wherein the fullerene is dissolved, and a concentration thereof iso 2 ppm by mass or more and less than 50 ppm by mass, and

wherein the base oil is mineral oil.

11. A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the fullerene concentration is in a range of 2 ppm or more and 31 ppm or less.

12. A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition as claimed in claim 9 wherein the base oil is a single base oil.

13. A fullerene-containing lubricating oil composition as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the base oil is a single base oil.
