Abstract

An electronic transaction verification system for use with transaction tokens such as checks, credit cards, debit cards, and smart cards that gathers and transmits information about the transaction token and biometric data. Customers can be enrolled in the system by receiving customer information that includes at least a biometric datum, associating the received customer information with a transaction instrument issued to the customers and storing the received customer information and the issued transaction instrument information in a database for future reference.

Claims (44)

1. A system configured to enable one or more devices associated with a user to conduct wireless radio frequency electronic payment transactions, the system comprising:

a biometric scanner integrated in the one or more devices,

one or more information stores configured to store a first biometric datum associated with the user and a transaction token, wherein the first biometric datum is associated with the transaction token and wherein the transaction token was issued on behalf of an issuing entity; and

one or more hardware processors configured to:

generate a first comparison result to approve or deny a second biometric datum by comparing the second biometric datum with the first biometric datum stored in the one or more information stores;

upon approval, transmit in near real time or over a few hours or a few days the transaction token representative of a transaction instrument being processed to a transaction facilitating entity;

receive a second comparison result conducted by a transaction validating entity to accept or reject a transaction; and

display a confirmation of the transaction based on the second comparison result,

wherein the first biometric datum and the second biometric datum are obtained with the biometric scanner.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the transaction instrument is one of a check, a debit card, a loyalty card, a food stamp, a token, or an account.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the transaction instrument comprises a credit card.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the transaction token is representative of one of a check, a debit card, a credit card, a loyalty card, a food stamp, a token, or an account.

5. The system of claim 1 , further comprises a token reading device configured to read or scan an indication of the transaction token.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the biometric scanner is configured to detect a fingerprint.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the biometric scanner is configured to scan the user's face.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the biometric information stored is representative of a voice print or a retinal scan.

9. A system configured to enable one or more devices associated with a user to conduct wireless radio frequency electronic payment transactions, the system comprising:

a biometric scanner integrated in the one or more devices; and

one or more hardware processors configured to:

receive an image scan of a transaction instrument configured to enable payment;

receive a transaction token issued on behalf of an issuing entity based on the image scan;

receive a first biometric datum from the biometric scanner;

generate a first comparison result to approve or deny the first biometric datum by comparing the first biometric datum with a stored biometric datum associated with the user;

transmit, based on the first comparison result, the transaction token representative of the transaction instrument to a transaction facilitating entity;

receive a second comparison result conducted by a transaction validating entity to accept or reject a transaction based on the transmitted transaction token; and

display a confirmation of the transaction based on the second comparison result.

10. The system of claim 9 , wherein the transaction instrument is one of a check, a debit card, a loyalty card, a food stamp, a token, or an account.

11. The system of claim 9 , wherein the transaction instrument comprises a credit card.

12. The system of claim 9 , wherein the transaction token is representative of one of a check, a debit card, a credit card, a loyalty card, a food stamp, a token, or an account.

13. The system of claim 9 , further comprises a token reading device configured to read or scan an indication of the transaction token.

14. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first biometric datum comprises a fingerprint.

15. The system of claim 9 , wherein the first biometric datum comprises the user's face.

16. A method for enabling one or more devices associated with a user to conduct wireless radio frequency electronic payment transactions, the method comprising:

receiving an image scan of a transaction instrument configured to enable payment;

receiving a transaction token issued on behalf of an issuing entity based on the image scan;

receiving a first biometric datum from a biometric scanner integrated with the one or more devices;

generating a first comparison result to approve or deny the first biometric datum by comparing the first biometric datum with a stored biometric datum associated with the user;

transmitting, based on the first comparison result, the transaction token representative of the physical transaction instrument to a transaction facilitating entity;

receiving a second comparison result conducted by a transaction validating entity to accept or reject a transaction based on the transmitted transaction token; and

displaying a confirmation of the transaction based on the second comparison result.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the transaction instrument comprises a credit card.

18. The method of claim 16 , further comprises a token reading device configured to read or scan an indication of the transaction token.

19. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first biometric datum comprises a fingerprint.

20. The method of claim 16 , wherein the first biometric datum comprises the user's face.
