Abstract

A method and apparatus are described. A method includes determining whether the apparatus is in a coverage enhancement (CE) mode or a non-CE mode. The method further includes receiving a CE-system information block (CE-SIB) on a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) based on at least one of a known location or at least one known parameter for the CE-SIB, on a condition that the WTRU is determined to be in the CE mode.

Claims (26)

1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a processor; and

a transceiver,

wherein the processor and the transceiver are configured to monitor for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission scrambled using a system information (SI)-radio network temporary identifier (RNTI),

wherein the processor and the transceiver are further configured to obtain, from downlink control information (DCI) on the PDCCH transmission scrambled using the SI-RNTI, scheduling information for system information (SI) and an indication of which SI is scheduled, wherein the SI includes at least a SIB-1 and at least one SIB other than the SIB-1, and

wherein the processor and the transceiver are further configured to acquire at least one of the SIB-1 and the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1, from a downlink shared channel, using at least the scheduling information and the indication of which SI is scheduled obtained from the DCI on the PDCCH transmission scrambled using the SI-RNTI.

2. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the processor and the transceiver are further configured to acquire the SIB-1 from the downlink shared channel before acquiring a SIB other than the SIB-1.

3. The WTRU of claim 2 , wherein the processor and the transceiver are further configured to derive, from the acquired SIB-1, an SI-window on the physical downlink channel corresponding to the SIB other than the SIB-1, and acquire the SIB other than the SIB-1 on the downlink shared channel in the derived SI-window.

4. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1 is acquired from SI messages on the downlink shared channel.

5. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1 comprises one of SIB-2 through SIB-16.

6. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the processor and the transceiver are further configured to acquire a master information block (MIB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), and obtain, from the MIB, one or more parameters for receiving and monitoring for the PDCCH transmission in a common search space for the system information.

7. The WTRU of claim 6 , wherein the one or more parameters comprise at least one of a time location and a frequency location of the common search space.

8. A method, implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit, the method comprising:

monitoring for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) transmission scrambled using a system information (SD-radio network temporary identifier (RNTI);

obtaining, from downlink control information (DCI) on the PDCCH transmission scrambled using the SI-RNTI, scheduling information for system information (SI) and an indication of which SI is scheduled, wherein the SI includes at least a SIB-1 and at least one SIB other than the SIB-1; and

acquiring at least one of the SIB-1 and the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1, from a downlink shared channel, using at least the scheduling information and the indication of which SI is scheduled obtained from the DCI on the PDCCH transmission scrambled using the SI-RNTI.

9. The method of claim 8 , further comprising acquiring the SIB-1 from the downlink shared channel before acquiring a SIB other than the SIB-1.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

deriving, from the acquired SIB-1, an SI-window on the physical downlink channel corresponding to the SIB other than the SIB-1; and

acquiring the SIB other than the SIB-1 on the downlink shared channel in the derived SI-window.

11. The method of claim 8 , wherein the acquiring the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1 comprises acquiring the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1 from SI messages on the downlink shared channel.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the at least one SIB other than the SIB-1 comprises at least one of SIB2 through SIB16.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising:

acquiring a master information block (MIB) on a physical broadcast channel (PBCH); and

obtaining, from the MIB, one or more parameters for receiving and monitoring for the PDCCH transmission in a common search space for the system information.

14. The method of claim 13 , wherein the one or more parameters comprise at least one of a time location and a frequency location of the common search space.
