Abstract

An automated food making apparatus having a carousel and at least one canister. The at least one canister may include a disposable bag having ingredients therein, with the disposable bag being disposed at an upper portion of the canister. The at least one canister may further include a reusable lower portion configured to be removably attached to the disposable bag. The reusable lower portion may further include a paddle to aid in dispensing ingredients from the disposable bag. The automated food making apparatus may further include a dispensing apparatus that is configured to dispense ingredients from the disposable bag.

Claims (38)

1. An automated food making apparatus that comprises:

(a) a carousel; and

(b) at least one canister coupled to the carousel, the at least one canister comprising:

(i) a disposable bag having ingredients therein, the disposable bag being disposed at an upper portion of the canister, and

(ii) a reusable lower portion configured to be removably attached to the disposable bag, the reusable lower portion comprising a paddle,

wherein the disposable bag includes a perforated region at a lower portion of the disposable bag, and

wherein the reusable lower portion of the at least one canister includes sharp edges along a top side of the reusable lower portion, the sharp edges being configured to tear the perforated region of the disposable bag.

2. The automated food making apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a dispensing apparatus that is configured to dispense ingredients from the disposable bag, the dispensing apparatus being shared among a plurality of canisters on the carousel.

3. The automated food making apparatus of claim 2 , further comprising a weight sensor whose feedback is provided to the dispensing apparatus to control dispensing of ingredients from the disposable bag.

4. The automated food making apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the carousel further comprises an overhang that is configured to couple with the at least one canister that comprises the disposable bag.

5. The automated food making apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the reusable lower portion includes mating structures on one or more sides of the reusable lower portion, the mating structures being configured to couple with mating structures provided on the carousel.

6. The automated food making apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the reusable lower portion includes a snap fit feature that is configured to removably attach the reusable lower portion to the disposable bag.

7. The automated food making apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the dispensing apparatus includes a mechanized feature that is disposed above the dispensing apparatus, the mechanized feature being configured to agitate the disposable bag and assist with dispensing lower weight ingredients.

8. The automated food making apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the disposable bag includes at least one of a bar code and an RFID tag printed thereon.

9. The automated food making apparatus of claim 4 , wherein the disposable bag of the at least one canister includes an opening configured to be placed on the overhang of the carousel in order to couple the disposable bag of the at least one canister with the carousel.

10. The automated food making apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the opening of the disposable bag is positioned near a top edge of the disposable bag of the at least one canister.

11. The automated food making apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the mating structures provided on the carousel comprise at least one T latch that is configured to couple with the mating structures provided on one or more sides of the reusable lower portion.

12. The automated food making apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the at least one T latch is configured to be placed into (i) an open position that allows for inserting the mating structures provided on one or more sides of the reusable lower portion into the mating structures provided on the carousel, and (ii) a closed position that allows for attaching the reusable lower portion to the carousel.

13. The automated food making apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the at least one of a bar code and an RFID tag is configured to track (i) inventory, (ii) expiration dates, (iii) supply chain details, or (iv) a combination of (i), (ii) and/or (iii).

14. An automated food making apparatus that comprises:

(a) a carousel; and

(b) at least one canister coupled to the carousel, the at least one canister comprising:

(i) a disposable bag having ingredients therein, the disposable bag being disposed at an upper portion of the canister, and

(ii) a reusable lower portion configured to be removably attached to the disposable bag, the reusable lower portion comprising a paddle,

wherein the reusable lower portion includes mating structures on one or more sides of the reusable lower portion, the mating structures being configured to couple with mating structures provided on the carousel, and

wherein the mating structures provided on the carousel comprise at least one T latch that is configured to couple with the mating structures provided on one or more sides of the reusable lower portion.

15. The automated food making apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the at least one T latch is configured to be placed into (i) an open position that allows for inserting the mating structures provided on one or more sides of the reusable lower portion into the mating structures provided on the carousel, and (ii) a closed position that allows for attaching the reusable lower portion to the carousel.

16. The automated food making apparatus of claim 14 , further comprising a dispensing apparatus that is configured to dispense ingredients from the disposable bag, the dispensing apparatus being shared among a plurality of canisters on the carousel.

17. The automated food making apparatus of claim 16 , further comprising a weight sensor whose feedback is provided to the dispensing apparatus to control dispensing of ingredients from the disposable bag.

18. The automated food making apparatus of claim 16 , wherein the dispensing apparatus includes a mechanized feature that is disposed above the dispensing apparatus, the mechanized feature being configured to agitate the disposable bag and assist with dispensing lower weight ingredients.

19. The automated food making apparatus of claim 14 , wherein the carousel further comprises an overhang that is configured to couple with the at least one canister that comprises the disposable bag.

20. The automated food making apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the disposable bag of the at least one canister includes an opening configured to be placed on the overhang of the carousel in order to couple the disposable bag of the at least one canister with the carousel.
