Methods of treating mixed dyslipidemia
The present disclosure relates to, inter alia, methods of treating mixed dyslipidemia with ethyl eicosapentaenoate.
1. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a statin suspended in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) or derivative thereof, wherein the composition is present in a capsule, and the composition is substantially free of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).
2. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 wherein the EPA or derivative thereof comprises ethyl-EPA.
3. The composition of claim 2 wherein the ethyl-EPA comprises at least 95% by weight of all fatty acids or derivatives thereof present in the composition.
4. The composition of claim 3 wherein the statin is selected from lovastatin, mevastatin, pitavastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin, fluvastatin, atorvastatin and simvastatin.
5. The composition of claim 2 wherein about 900 mg to about 1 g of ethyl-EPA is present in the capsule.
6. The composition of claim 4 wherein about 1 mg to about 80 mg of a statin is present in the capsule.
7. The composition of claim 6 wherein the statin comprises rosuvastatin and is present in the capsule in an amount of about 5 mg to about 40 mg.
8. The composition of claim 1 wherein the statin is in the form of a tablet, and wherein the statin is suspended in the EPA or derivative thereof.
9. The composition of claim 8 wherein the statin comprises 5 mg, 10 mg, or 20 mg of rosuvastatin.
10. The composition of claim 9 wherein about 1 to about 20 of the capsules are packaged in a blister package sheet.
11. The composition of claim 10 wherein the blister package sheet further contains capsules comprising at least 95% ethyl-EPA by weight of all fatty acids or derivatives present in the composition, substantially no DHA and no statin.
12. The composition of claim 1 which comprises no DHA.
