Abstract

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining, by a system comprising a processor, a driver profile according to a driver identity for a driver of a vehicle, selecting a driver-specific enforcement scenario for the vehicle according to the driver profile and traffic enforcement information that is associated with a vehicle location, and presenting an in-vehicle alert to convey the driver-specific enforcement scenario to the driver. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims (46)

1. A device comprising:

a processing system including a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations comprising:

identifying an occupant of a vehicle as a driver of the vehicle;

retrieving a profile associated with the driver;

determining a current driving location of the vehicle;

providing to equipment of the driver notification of traffic enforcement activities specified by the profile;

accessing traffic enforcement information associated with the driving location to detect a pattern of traffic enforcement associated with the driving location;

transmitting an alert to notify the driver regarding the pattern;

monitoring a set of vehicle operation parameters for the vehicle; and

transmitting a message to a third party device in accordance with detecting a vehicle operation parameter outside predetermined limits, detecting that the driving location is in an area of enhanced traffic enforcement activity, detecting that the driver has not responded appropriately to the alert, or any combination thereof.

2. The device of claim 1 , wherein the profile includes preferences regarding presentation of the alert.

3. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise accessing a traffic enforcement grade associated with the driving location.

4. The device of claim 3 , wherein the traffic enforcement grade comprises a relative strictness of enforcement of traffic laws at the driving location.

5. The device of claim 1 , wherein the identifying comprises obtaining biometric information associated with the driver.

6. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise obtaining monitoring information captured at the vehicle via equipment integral with the vehicle and comprising a camera, a microphone or a combination thereof.

7. The device of claim 1 , wherein the operations further comprise selecting, in accordance with the vehicle operation parameter, a driver-specific enforcement scenario from the traffic enforcement information.

8. The device of claim 7 , wherein the alert comprises a notification corresponding to the driver-specific enforcement scenario.

9. The device of claim 7 , wherein the operations further comprise obtaining operator license information from the profile, wherein the driver-specific enforcement scenario is further selected according to the operator license information.

10. A method comprising:

identifying, by a processing system including a processor, an occupant of a vehicle as a driver of the vehicle;

retrieving, by the processing system, a profile associated with the driver;

determining, by the processing system, a current driving location of the vehicle;

providing, by the processing system, to equipment of the driver notification of traffic enforcement activities specified by the profile;

accessing, by the processing system, traffic enforcement information associated with the driving location to detect a pattern of traffic enforcement associated with the driving location;

providing, by the processing system, an alert to the driver regarding the pattern;

monitoring, by the processing system, a set of vehicle operation parameters for the vehicle; and

transmitting, by the processing system, a message to a third party device in accordance with detecting a vehicle operation parameter outside predetermined limits, detecting that the driving location is in an area of enhanced traffic enforcement activity, detecting that the driver has not responded appropriately to the alert, or any combination thereof.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the profile includes preferences regarding the providing the alert.

12. The method of claim 10 , further comprising accessing, by the processing system, a traffic enforcement grade associated with the driving location.

13. The method of claim 10 , wherein the identifying comprises obtaining biometric information associated with the driver.

14. The method of claim 10 , further comprising obtaining, by the processing system, monitoring information captured at the vehicle via equipment integral with the vehicle and comprising a camera, a microphone or a combination thereof.

15. The method of claim 10 , further comprising selecting, by the processing system in accordance with the vehicle operation parameter, a driver-specific enforcement scenario from the traffic enforcement information.

16. A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations comprising:

identifying an occupant of a vehicle as a driver of the vehicle;

retrieving a profile associated with the driver;

determining a current driving location of the vehicle;

providing to equipment of the driver notification of traffic enforcement activities specified by the profile;

accessing traffic enforcement information associated with the driving location to detect a pattern of traffic enforcement associated with the driving location;

transmitting an alert to notify the driver regarding the pattern;

monitoring, based on vehicle information captured at the vehicle, a set of vehicle operation parameters for the vehicle; and

transmitting a message to a third party device in accordance with detecting a vehicle operation parameter outside predetermined limits, detecting that the driving location is in an area of enhanced traffic enforcement activity, detecting that the driver has not responded appropriately to the alert, or any combination thereof.

17. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the profile includes preferences regarding presentation of the alert.

18. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprise accessing a traffic enforcement grade associated with the driving location.

19. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the identifying comprises obtaining biometric information associated with the driver.

20. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the vehicle information is captured via equipment integral with the vehicle and comprising a camera, a microphone or a combination thereof.
