Methods and compositions for the treatment of hair loss

1. A pharmaceutical composition wherein the active agents consist of 0.02%-0.5% w/v latanoprost and minoxidil.

2. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 wherein the pharmaceutical composition is used for the treatment of hair loss.

3. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of 30-60% w/v propanediol, 30-60% w/v polyethylene glycol, 10-50% w/v ethanol, 10-50% w/v propylene glycol and 10-20% w/v benzyl alcohol.

4. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of 30-60% w/v propanediol, 30-60% w/v polyethylene glycol, 10-50% w/v ethanol, 10-50% w/v propylene glycol and 10-20% w/v benzyl alcohol.

5. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 wherein the active agents consist of 0.02%-0.1% w/v latanoprost and minoxidil.

6. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 2 further comprising oleic acid, propanediol and one selected from the group consisting of 30-60% w/v polyethylene glycol, 10-50% w/v ethanol, 10-50% w/v propylene glycol and 10-20% w/v benzyl alcohol.

7. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 further comprising oleyl alcohol, ethanol, and one selected from the group consisting of 30-60% polyethylene glycol, 10-50% w/v ethanol, 10-50% w/v propylene glycol and 10-20% w/v benzyl alcohol.

8. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 5 wherein the active agents consist of 0.06%-0.1% w/v latanoprost and 2-7% w/v minoxidil.

9. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 8 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of benzyl alcohol, ethanol, oleic acid, water, and diethylene glycol monoethyl ether.

10. A pharmaceutical composition wherein the active agents consist of 0.05%-0.5% w/v latanoprost and 2-7% w/v minoxidil.

11. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10 wherein the pharmaceutical composition is applied to the scalp for use in treatment of hair loss.

12. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 11 wherein the pharmaceutical composition consists of 0.07-0.1% w/v latanoprost and 4-6% w/v minoxidil.

13. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 12 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of propanediol, polyethylene glycol, ethanol, propylene glycol and benzyl alcohol.

14. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 12 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of 10-50% w/v propanediol, 10-50% w/v polyethylene glycol, 5-40% w/v ethanol, 10-60% w/v propylene glycol and 5-15% w/v benzyl alcohol.

15. The composition of claim 12 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of 30-60% w/v propanediol, 30-60% w/v polyethylene glycol, 10-50% w/v ethanol, 10-50% w/v propylene glycol and 10-20% w/v benzyl alcohol.

16. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10 wherein the active agents consist of 0.06%-0.4% w/v latanoprost and 3-6% w/v minoxidil.

17. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 16 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of 10-50% w/v isopropyl myristate, 10-50% w/v polyethylene glycol, 5-40% w/v ethanol, 10-60% w/v propylene glycol and 5-50% w/v carboxy methyl cellulose and one selected from the group consisting of 10-50% w/v polyethylene glycol, 5-40% ethanol, 10-60% w/v propylene glycol, 1-10% w/v diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and water.

18. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 17 wherein the composition comprises one selected from the group consisting of 40-50% w/v isopropyl myristate, 10-50% w/v polyethylene glycol, 20-30% w/v ethanol, 40-60% w/v propylene glycol and 40-50% w/v carboxymethyl cellulose and one selected from the group consisting of 40-50% w/v polyethylene glycol, 20-30% ethanol, 20-50% w/v propylene glycol, 1-10% w/v diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and 1-20% w/v water.

19. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 10 further comprising a solvent.

20. A pharmaceutical composition comprising 0.05-0.1% w/v latanoprost and minoxidil wherein the pharmaceutical composition does not contain finasteride.

21. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of ethanol, isopropyl myristate, polyethylene glycol, propylene glycol and propanediol.

22. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 further comprising a solvent.

23. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 wherein the active agents consist of 0.02-0.1% w/v latanoprost and minoxidil.

24. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of 30-60% w/v propanediol, 30-60% w/v polyethylene glycol, 10-50% w/v ethanol, 10-50% w/v propylene glycol and 10-20% w/v benzyl alcohol.

25. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 23 further comprising one selected from the group consisting of glyceryl dibehenate, propylene glycol monocaprylate, 2-ethylhexyl stearate, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and myristyl alcohol.

26. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 further comprising a penetration enhancer.

27. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises 2-7% w/v minoxidil.

28. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 wherein the pharmaceutical composition comprises 2-5% w/v minoxidil.

29. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 20 wherein the pharmaceutical composition is useful for treating hair loss.

30. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 21 wherein the pharmaceutical composition is useful for treating androgenetic alopecia.
