Abstract

Embodiments include a system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient. The system may include at least one computer system configured to receive patient-specific data regarding a geometry of the patient's heart, and create a three-dimensional model representing at least a portion of the patient's heart based on the patient-specific data. The at least one computer system may be further configured to create a physics-based model relating to a blood flow characteristic of the patient's heart and determine a fractional flow reserve within the patient's heart based on the three-dimensional model and the physics-based model.

Claims (54)

1. A method of generating an anatomical model, the method comprising:

receiving a first set of patient-specific data of at least one vessel of an imaging subject via a non-invasive imaging technique;

constructing a three-dimensional (3D) image using the first set of data, the 3D image comprising the at least one vessel;

identifying plaque in the at least one vessel using the 3D image;

removing the identified plaque from the 3D image;

generating anatomical information for the imaging subject using the 3D image;

receiving a second set of patient-specific data of the imaging subject during a medical intervention; and

updating the 3D image using the second set of patient-specific data.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising updating the anatomical information for the imaging subject using the updated 3D image.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

performing a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis on at least one of the 3D image and the anatomical information to generate hemodynamic information; and

updating the hemodynamic information using at least one of the updated 3D image and the updated anatomical information.

4. The method of claim 3 , further comprising:

generating a first display comprising a visualization of at least one of the 3D image, the anatomical information, and the hemodynamic information; and

generating a second display comprising a visualization of at least one of the updated 3D image, the updated anatomical information, and the updated hemodynamic information.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set of patient-specific data is CT imaging data.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein acquiring the first set of patient-specific data comprises receiving the first set of patient-specific data at multiple phases of a cardiac cycle of the imaging subject.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the second set of patient-specific data is of a different type of data than the first set of patient-specific data.

8. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon a computer program comprising instructions, which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to:

receive a first set of patient-specific data of at least one vessel of an imaging subject via a non-invasive imaging technique;

construct a three-dimensional (3D) image using the first set of data, the 3D image comprising the at least one vessel;

identify plaque in the at least one vessel using the 3D image;

remove the identified plaque from the 3D image;

generate anatomical information for the imaging subject using the constructed 3D image;

receive a second set of patient-specific data of the imaging subject during a medical intervention; and

update the 3D image using the updated first set of data.

9. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to update the anatomical information for the imaging subject using the updated 3D image.

10. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to:

perform a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis on at least one of the 3D image and the anatomical information to generate hemodynamic information; and

update the hemodynamic information using the updated anatomical information.

11. The computer readable storage medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the computer to:

generate a first display comprising a visualization of at least one of the 3D image, the anatomical information, and the hemodynamic information; and

generate a second display comprising a visualization of at least one of the updated 3D image, the updated anatomical information, and the updated hemodynamic information.

12. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the first set of patient-specific data includes CT imaging data.

13. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the first set of patient-specific data includes data collected at multiple phases of a cardiac cycle of the imaging subject.

14. The computer readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the instructions cause the computer to update the 3D image using the updated first set of data during the medical intervention.

15. A method of generating an anatomical model, the method comprising:

receiving a set of patient-specific anatomical data of at least one vessel of an imaging subject via a non-invasive imaging technique;

constructing a three-dimensional (3D) image using the first set of patient-specific data, the 3D image comprising the at least one vessel;

identifying plaque in the at least one vessel using the 3D image;

removing the identified plaque from the 3D image;

generating anatomical information for the imaging subject using the constructed 3D image;

receiving a set of patient-specific interventional data during a medical intervention;

updating the 3D image using the patient-specific interventional data;

updating the anatomical information for the imaging subject using the updated 3D image; and

identifying at least one potential interventional procedure based on at least one of the updated 3D image and the updated anatomical information for the imaging subject.

16. The method of claim 15 , further comprising:

performing a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis on at least one of the 3D image and the anatomical information to generate hemodynamic information; and

updating the hemodynamic information using the updated anatomical information.

17. The method of claim 16 , further comprising:

generating a first display comprising a visualization of at least one of the 3D image, the anatomical information, and the hemodynamic information; and

generating a second display comprising a visualization of at least one of the updated 3D image, the updated anatomical information, and the updated hemodynamic information.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein updating the anatomical information for the imaging subject, updating the hemodynamic information, and generating the second display are performed during the medical intervention.

19. The method of claim 15 , wherein the non-invasive imaging technique includes CT imaging.
