Abstract

The present invention provides a liquid crystal display that can reduce occurrence of quality problems and improve adhesive strength between substrates. The present invention is a liquid crystal display including a first substrate, a second substrate, and a seal. The first substrate includes a shift register monolithically formed on an insulating substrate, a plurality of bus lines, a first end, and a display region. The shift register includes a plurality of multistage-connected unit circuits and wiring connected to the plurality of unit circuits, and is arranged in a region between the first end and the display region. At least one of the unit circuits includes a clock terminal, an output terminal, an output transistor, a second transistor, and a bootstrap capacitor. The output transistor and the bootstrap capacitor are arranged in a region between the first end and one of the wiring and the second transistor.

Claims (36)

1. An active matrix substrate comprising:

an insulating substrate including a first end;

a display region provided on the insulating substrate and including a plurality of gate lines and a plurality of pixel transistors being electrically connected to the plurality of gate lines; and

a shift register monolithically defined on the insulating substrate,

in a plan view, the shift register being arranged in a region between the first end and the display region; wherein

the shift register includes a plurality of unit circuits that are multistage-connected and a wiring connected to the plurality of unit circuits;

at least one of the plurality of unit circuits includes:

a clock terminal into which a clock signal is input;

an output terminal being electrically connected to a corresponding one of the gate lines, the output terminal outputting an output signal;

a first transistor including a source electrode and a drain electrode, one of the source electrode and the drain electrode being connected to the clock terminal and another of the source electrode and the drain electrode being connected to the output terminal;

a second transistor being electrically connected to a gate electrode of the first transistor through a conductor other than the wiring; and

a capacitor including a first terminal being directly connected to the gate electrode of the first transistor and a second terminal being directly connected to the output terminal,

in a plan view, the capacitor being arranged adjacent over the entire length of one side of the first transistor;

the wiring connected to the plurality of unit circuits supplies a first potential to turn off the plurality of pixel transistors to the unit circuits;

in a plan view, the first transistor and the capacitor are arranged in a region between the first end and the wiring, and

the second transistor is arranged in a region between the first transistor and the wiring.

2. The active matrix substrate according to claim 1 , wherein

the at least one of the plurality of unit circuits further includes a third transistor being electrically connected to the gate electrode of the first transistor without going through the wiring.

3. The active matrix substrate according to claim 2 , wherein

the third transistor is directly connected to the wiring.

4. The active matrix substrate according to claim 1 , wherein

the second transistor is directly connected to the wiring.

5. The active matrix substrate according to claim 1 , wherein

the second transistor is directly connected to a signal wiring different from the wiring.

6. The active matrix substrate according to claim 1 , wherein

each of the source electrode and the drain electrode of the first transistor includes a comb-shaped structure.

7. The active matrix substrate according to claim 6 , wherein

a semiconductor material of each of the first transistor and the second transistor includes one of an amorphous silicon and an oxide semiconductor.

8. The active matrix substrate according to claim 1 , wherein

a channel width of the first transistor is larger than a channel width of the second transistor.
