Abstract

A mirror assembly can include a housing, a mirror, and a light source. In certain embodiments, the mirror is rotatable within a support portion of the mirror assembly. In some embodiments, the mirror assembly includes a light pipe configured to emit a substantially constant amount of light along a periphery of the mirror. In some embodiments, the mirror assembly includes a sensor assembly. The sensor assembly can be configured to adjust the amount of emitted light based on the position of a user in relation to the mirror.

Claims (22)

1. A mirror assembly comprising:

a base portion;

a mirror head comprising a first mirror on a first side of the mirror head and a second mirror on a second side of the mirror head, the second mirror having a different magnification than the first mirror, the mirror head rotatable relative to the base portion;

a light path disposed around at least a portion of a periphery of the mirror head;

one or more light sources disposed within the light path;

a proximity sensor configured to detect an object within a sensing region of the proximity sensor; and

an electronic processor configured to activate the one or more light sources when the proximity sensor detects the object within the sensing region;

wherein as the mirror head is rotated such that the first mirror moves out of a viewing direction and the second mirror moves into the viewing direction, the proximity sensor remains oriented in the viewing direction.

2. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mirror head is rotatable along an axis that is perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the base portion.

3. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a curved arm connected to the mirror head, the mirror head rotatable relative to the curved arm.

4. The mirror assembly of claim 3 , wherein the curved arm is connected to the mirror head along an axis that is perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the base portion.

5. The mirror assembly of claim 3 , further comprising a shaft portion extending between the base portion and the curved arm.

6. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the proximity sensor is mounted at an angle relative to a viewing surface of the mirror head.

7. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the base portion comprises a battery configured to deliver power to the one or more light sources.

8. The mirror assembly of claim 7 , wherein the battery is rechargeable.

9. The mirror assembly of claim 8 , wherein the base portion comprises a port configured to removably receive a cable for recharging the battery.

10. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the base portion comprises a power button for activating power to the mirror assembly.

11. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the electronic processor is configured to deactivate the one or more light sources if the proximity sensor does not detect the object for a predetermined period of time.

12. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the mirror head is circular.

13. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a first hinge assembly and a second hinge assembly on opposite sides of the mirror head.

14. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the proximity sensor is positioned in a top region of the mirror assembly.

15. The mirror assembly of claim 1 , wherein the proximity sensor is positioned in a bottom region of the mirror assembly.
