Abstract

A system is provided for generating a live media segment asset. Manifest data and indexed metadata are inserted to a live media segment asset manifest based on an identifier in a received request. The indexed metadata is associated with a media segment from an indexed media content referenced in a first programming schedule. A live media segment asset is generated based on a context parameter and the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata. The indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.

Claims (52)

1. A system, comprising:

a memory for storing instructions; and

one or more processors configured to execute the instructions, and based on the instructions, the one or more processors are further configured to:

insert, based on an identifier in a received request, manifest data and indexed metadata to a live media segment asset manifest, wherein the indexed metadata is associated with a media segment from an indexed media content referenced in a first programming schedule; and

generate a live media segment asset based on a context parameter and the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata, wherein the indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.

2. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

process the manifest data to create the indexed metadata, and wherein the indexed metadata defines programming content indicators and calculated durations, a programming content identification, non-programming content indicators and calculated durations, a non-programming content identification, and event markers.

3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the manifest data corresponds to one or both of an encoded live input stream or a pre-encoded media asset that are indexed by the one or more processors, and

wherein the manifest data defines an associated media content, one or more programming indicators, timing metadata, one or more media content identifiers, and one or more contextual event identifiers.

4. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to generate the indexed media content based on at least one of an indexing of a pre-encoded media asset or a live input stream referenced in the first programming schedule, and

wherein the live input stream is indexed repeatedly at variable time intervals.

5. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to create a new index of the live media segment asset based on rules dictated by a schedules, rights, and preferences database.

6. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to maintain the manifest data and the indexed metadata to encompass a time-range specified in the first programming schedule.

7. The system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the identifier corresponds to a stream identifier and one or more timing identifiers of a stream indicator,

wherein the stream identifier references a prior generated disparate live media output stream as indicated in the first programming schedule published by the one or more processors,

wherein the one or more timing identifiers of the stream indicator defined in the first programming schedule indicate the indexed media content in the first programming schedule associated with the stream identifier and a specified number of media segments and associated metadata generated previously,

wherein the one or more timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with a prior playout of the prior generated disparate live media output stream, and

wherein the one or more timing identifiers of the stream indicator are associated with the indexed media content that corresponds to programming content.

8. The system according to claim 1 ,

wherein the identifier corresponds to a live media segment asset identifier and locations of media segment indicators,

wherein the live media segment asset identifier references the media segment and associated metadata of the indexed media content,

wherein the locations of the media segment indicators are associated with at least one of a pre-encoded media asset or a live input stream that is to be included in the live media segment asset, and

wherein the locations of the media segment indicators are associated with the indexed media content that correspond to one of a single or multiple programming content.

9. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

generate a live media segment asset query to determine media segments and associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule;

validate against a set of published programming schedules that the media segments and the associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule and associated with the live media segment asset query are eligible for a playout; and

generate an error notification when the media segments and the associated metadata, associated with the live media segment asset query, are ineligible for the playout.

The system according to claim 1 , wherein the context parameter corresponds to one of a user-defined input, a pre-specified context, a sequential series of prior defined live media segment assets, or a context recognition in existing live media segment assets, and wherein the pre-specified context is defined as at least one of a scene, an action, a speech, or a highlight.

11. The system according to claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

generate a new live media segment asset based on at least one of: (a) one of a partial or total segments of the existing live media segment assets, (b) the sequential series of prior defined live media segment assets, or (c) the context recognition in existing live media segment assets, wherein a new pre-encoded media asset corresponds to the live media segment asset.

12. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more processors are further configured to:

publish the first programming schedule, wherein the first programming schedule references at least one of a pre-encoded media asset or a live input stream; and

process and transcode the live media segment asset into a media format.

13. A method, comprising:

inserting, by one or more processors, manifest data and indexed metadata to a live media segment asset manifest based on an identifier in a received request, wherein the indexed metadata is associated with a media segment from an indexed media content referenced in a first programming schedule; and

generating, by the one or more processors, a live media segment asset based on a context parameter and the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata, wherein the indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.

14. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:

processing, by the one or more processors, the manifest data to create the indexed metadata, and wherein the indexed metadata defines programming content indicators and calculated durations, a programming content identification, non-programming content indicators and calculated durations, a non-programming content identification, and event markers.

15. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:

generating, by the one or more processors, the indexed media content based on at least one of indexing of a pre-encoded media asset or a live input stream referenced in the first programming schedule, and wherein the live input stream is indexed repeatedly at variable time intervals.

16. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising creating, by the one or more processors, a new index of the live media segment asset based on rules dictated by a schedules, rights, and preferences database.

17. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising maintaining, by the one or more processors, the manifest data and the indexed metadata to encompass a time-range specified in the first programming schedule.

18. The method according to claim 13 , further comprising:

generating, by the one or more processors, a live media segment asset query to determine media segments and associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule;

validating, by the one or more processors, against a set of published programming schedules that the media segments and the associated metadata of the indexed media content referenced in the first programming schedule and associated with the live media segment asset query are eligible for a playout; and

generating, by the one or more processors, an error notification when the media segments and the associated metadata, associated with the live media segment asset query, are ineligible for the playout.

19. The method according to claim 18 , further comprising:

generating, by the one or more processors, a new live media segment asset based on at least one of: (a) one of a partial or total segments of existing live media segment assets, (b) a sequential series of prior defined live media segment assets, or (c) a context recognition in existing live media segment assets, wherein a new pre-encoded media asset corresponds to the live media segment asset.

20. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon, computer implemented instruction that when executed by one or more processors in a computer, causes the computer to execute operations, the operations comprising:

inserting manifest data and indexed metadata to a live media segment asset manifest based on an identifier in a received request, wherein the indexed metadata is associated with a media segment from an indexed media content referenced in a first programming schedule; and

generating a live media segment asset based on a context parameter and the insertion of the manifest data and the indexed metadata, wherein the indexed media content is referenced by the identifier for the generation of the live media segment asset.
