Abstract

The invention provides systems and methods for mounting a fuel system to a vehicle. In some embodiments, the invention provides systems and methods for mounting a fuel system comprising a fuel tank to a vehicle chassis using a bracket, which may be a multi-part bracket, and may be referred to as a “drop and go” bracket.

Claims (39)

1. A vehicle equipment mounting system comprising:

a first bracket portion attachable to a vehicle chassis, wherein the first bracket portion includes a bottom surface and a top surface; and

a second bracket portion attachable to a frame mountable vehicle equipment comprising a box for a battery, wherein the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are configured to be engaged at one or more points by meeting of complimentary features on the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion in order to mount the frame mountable vehicle equipment to the vehicle chassis,

wherein the second bracket portion has an overhanging lip or an extension,

wherein the top surface of the first bracket portion can contact an underside of the overhanging lip or the extension of the second bracket portion, and

wherein one or more top openings on the second bracket portion align with one or more top holes on the first bracket portion in use when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first bracket portion includes a groove, indentation, or hole into which a part of the second bracket portion slides.

The system of claim 1 , wherein after the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are connected to one another, the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are separable from one another via a combination of motions in both a lateral direction and a vertical direction, including rotation of the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion relative to one another.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the second bracket portion includes an interior surface configured to engage with the bottom surface of the first bracket portion.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the bottom surface of the first bracket portion and the interior surface of the second bracket portion have through-holes that align when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged with one another.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first bracket portion further comprises a cavity defined by a plurality of walls, a downwardly-extending portion, and an upwardly-oriented surface,

wherein the second bracket portion further comprises a receiving portion having a cavity,

wherein the downwardly-extending portion of the first bracket portion is configured to be received by the receiving portion of the second bracket portion.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein the upwardly-oriented surface of the first bracket portion is located above the downwardly-extending portion.

8. The system of claim 5 , wherein the upwardly-oriented surface of the first bracket portion is configured to support at least a portion of a weight of the second bracket portion when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged.

The system of claim 1 , wherein the first bracket portion includes a first plurality of vertical side walls, the second bracket portion includes a second plurality of vertical side walls, and the second plurality of vertical side walls cover at least a portion of the first plurality of vertical side walls when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the first bracket portion includes one or more protrusions at the top surface, and

wherein the second bracket portion includes one or more holes or indentations configured to accept the one or more protrusions from the first bracket portion.

11. A vehicle equipment mounting system comprising:

a first bracket portion attachable to a vehicle chassis, wherein the first bracket portion includes a bottom surface and a top surface; and

a second bracket portion attachable to a frame mountable vehicle equipment comprising a box for a battery, wherein the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are configured to be engaged at one or more points by meeting of complimentary features on the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion in order to mount the frame mountable vehicle equipment to the vehicle chassis,

wherein the second bracket portion has an overhanging lip or an extension,

wherein the top surface of the first bracket portion can contact an underside of the overhanging lip or the extension of the second bracket portion,

wherein one or more first apertures of the first bracket portion and one or more second apertures of the second bracket portion are aligned when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged, and

wherein the one or more first apertures and the one or more second apertures are configured to receive respective one or more fasteners to secure the first bracket portion to the second bracket portion.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the first bracket portion includes a groove, indentation, or hole into which a part of the second bracket portion slides.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein after the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are connected to one another, the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are separable from one another via a combination of motions in both a lateral direction and a vertical direction, including rotation of the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion relative to one another.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the second bracket portion includes an interior surface configured to engage with the bottom surface of the first bracket portion.

15. The system of claim 14 , wherein the bottom surface of the first bracket portion and the interior surface of the second bracket portion have through-holes that align when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged with one another.

16. A vehicle equipment mounting system comprising:

a first bracket portion attachable to a vehicle chassis, wherein the first bracket portion includes a bottom surface and a top surface; and

a second bracket portion attachable to a frame mountable vehicle equipment comprising a box for a battery, wherein the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are configured to be engaged at one or more points by meeting of complimentary features on the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion in order to mount the frame mountable vehicle equipment to the vehicle chassis,

wherein the second bracket portion has an overhanging lip or an extension,

wherein the top surface of the first bracket portion can contact an underside of the overhanging lip or the extension of the second bracket portion, and

wherein the first bracket portion includes a groove, indentation, or hole into which a part of the second bracket portion slides.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the first bracket portion includes a groove, indentation, or hole into which a part of the second bracket portion slides.

18. The system of claim 16 , wherein after the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are connected to one another, the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are separable from one another via a combination of motions in both a lateral direction and a vertical direction, including rotation of the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion relative to one another.

19. The system of claim 16 , wherein the second bracket portion includes an interior surface configured to engage with the bottom surface of the first bracket portion.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the bottom surface of the first bracket portion and the interior surface of the second bracket portion have through-holes that align when the first bracket portion and the second bracket portion are engaged with one another.
