Abstract

Circuits, systems and computer readable media transmission of wireless signals in response to incoming signals in a wireless signaling environment. Such a system may include at least one transceiver for receiving an incoming signal via an antenna array from a device in the wireless signaling environment. The system may also include a controller operably coupled to the transceiver. The controller may measure a phase of the incoming signal, and determine, based on the phase, a transmit phase configuration for one or more antennas of the antenna array. The system may include at least one phase-locked loop (PLL) operably coupled to the transceiver(s). The PLL(s) may feed signals to the antenna(s) of the antenna array based on the transmit phase configuration for transmission of a responsive signal to the device.

2. The circuit of claim 1 , wherein the antenna array is further formed in or on a first side defining a first plane of the wafer.

3. The circuit of claim 2 , wherein the plurality of PLLs is further formed in or on a second side defining a second plane of the wafer opposing the first plane.

4. The circuit of claim 1 further comprising means for coupling the plurality of PLLs to at least one transceiver.

5. The circuit of claim 4 further comprising the at least one transceiver formed in or on yet another portion of the wafer, and configured to feed signals via the plurality of PLLs to the antenna array.

6. The circuit of claim 5 , wherein the at least one transceiver includes a plurality of transceivers, each transceiver of the plurality of transceivers configured to feed a respective signal via a respective PLL of the plurality of PLLs to respective antennas of the antenna array.

7. The circuit of claim 1 , wherein the antenna array includes a plurality of antenna groups including:

a first antenna group including the at least one antenna; and

a second antenna group including the at least one other antenna.

8. The circuit of claim 7 , wherein each antenna group of the plurality of antenna groups includes a plurality of antennas.

9. The circuit of claim 7 , wherein each antenna group of the plurality of antenna groups includes a same number of antennas.

10. The circuit of claim 7 , wherein each antenna group of the plurality of antenna groups has an equivalent shape and equivalent dimensions.

11. The circuit of claim 7 , wherein antenna groups of a first set of the plurality of antenna groups has a first shape, and wherein antenna groups of at least a second set of the plurality of antenna groups has a second shape different from the first shape.

12. The circuit of claim 7 , wherein most of the antenna groups of the plurality of antenna groups are hexagonally shaped.

13. One or more non-transitory computer readable media having stored thereon program instructions which, when executed by at least one processor, cause a machine to:

measure a phase of an incoming signal received via an antenna array by a transceiver from a wireless client;

determine, based on the phase, a transmit phase configuration for one or more antennas of the antenna array; and

direct a phase-locked loop (PLL) to feed signals to the one or more antennas based on the transmit phase configuration for transmission of a responsive signal to the wireless client.

14. The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 13 , wherein the transceiver includes a first transceiver and at least a second transceiver, and wherein, when executed by the at least one processor, the program instructions cause the machine to:

measure a phase of a first incoming signal received via the antenna array by the first transceiver from the wireless client;

determine, based on the phase of the first incoming signal, a first transmit phase configuration for at least one antenna of the antenna array;

measure a phase of at least a second incoming signal received via the antenna array by the at least a second transceiver from the wireless client or another wireless client; and

determine, based on the phase of the at least a second incoming signal, at least a second transmit phase configuration for at least one other antenna of the antenna array.

15. The one or more non-transitory computer readable media of claim 14 , wherein the PLL includes a first PLL and at least a second PLL, and wherein, when executed by the at least one processor, the program instructions cause the machine to:

direct the first PLL to feed a first signal to the at least one antenna of the antenna array based on the first transmit phase configuration for transmission of a first responsive signal to the wireless client; and

direct the at least a second PLL to feed at least a second signal to the at least one other antenna of the antenna array based on the at least a second transmit phase configuration for transmission of at least a second responsive signal to the wireless client or the another wireless client.

16. A system comprising:

at least one transceiver configured to receive an incoming signal via an antenna array from a wireless client;

a controller operably coupled to the transceiver, and configured to:

measure a phase of the incoming signal; and

determine, based on the phase, a transmit phase configuration for one or more antennas of the antenna array; and

at least one phase-locked loop (PLL) operably coupled to the at least one transceiver, and configured to feed signals to the one or more antennas of the antenna array based on the transmit phase configuration for transmission of a responsive signal to the wireless client.
