Abstract

An extensible communication system is described herein. The system includes a first module for receiving a root index value and for generating a constant amplitude zero auto-correlation sequence based on the root value. The system further includes a second module for receiving a seed value and for generating a Pseudo-Noise sequence based on the seed value. The system further includes a third module for modulating the constant amplitude zero auto-correlation sequence by the Pseudo-Noise sequence and for generating a complex sequence. The system further includes a fourth module for translating the complex sequence to a time domain sequence, wherein the fourth module applies a cyclic shift to the time domain sequence to obtain a shifted time domain sequence.

Claims (46)

1. A receiver device, comprising:

a memory configured to store program instructions; and

a processor, upon executing the program instructions, configured to:

receive a bootstrap signal comprising a first bootstrap symbol and a second bootstrap symbol;

determine a first correlation peak associated with the first bootstrap symbol having a first cyclic shift with a value of zero;

determine a second correlation peak associated with the second bootstrap symbol having a second cyclic shift with a non-zero value;

determine a time difference between the first correlation peak and the second correlation peak; and

determine signaling information based on the time difference.

2. The receiver device of claim 1 , wherein the processor, upon executing the program instructions, is configured to determine the signaling information using a lookup table.

3. The receiver device of claim 1 , wherein the bootstrap signal further comprises a third bootstrap symbol and a fourth bootstrap symbol, wherein the fourth bootstrap symbol has a 180 degrees phase inversion relative to the third bootstrap symbol.

4. The receiver device of claim 1 , wherein the processor, upon executing the program instructions, is configured to:

receive a waveform following the bootstrap signal; and

use the signaling information for decoding the waveform.

5. The receiver device of claim 1 , wherein the processor, upon executing the program instructions, is configured to determine a major version number and a minor version number from the first bootstrap symbol.

6. The receiver device of claim 1 , wherein the processor, upon executing the program instructions, is configured to use the first bootstrap signal for initial time synchronization.

7. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a receiver device, a bootstrap signal comprising a first bootstrap symbol and a second bootstrap symbol;

determining, by the receiver device, a first correlation peak associated with the first bootstrap symbol having a first cyclic shift with a value of zero;

determining, by the receiver device, a second correlation peak associated with the second bootstrap symbol having a second cyclic shift with a non-zero value;

determining, by the receiver device, a time difference between the first correlation peak and the second correlation peak; and

determining, by the receiver device, signaling information based on the time difference.

8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

determining, by the receiver device, the signaling information using a lookup table.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the bootstrap signal further comprises a third bootstrap symbol and a fourth bootstrap symbol, wherein the fourth bootstrap symbol has a 180 degrees phase inversion relative to the third bootstrap symbol.

10. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

receiving, by the receiver device, a waveform following the bootstrap signal; and

using, by the receiver device, the signaling information for decoding the waveform.

11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

determining, by the receiver device, a major version number and a minor version number from the first bootstrap symbol.

12. The method of claim 7 , further comprising:

using, by the receiver device, the first bootstrap signal for initial time synchronization.

13. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

receiving a bootstrap signal comprising a first bootstrap symbol and a second bootstrap symbol;

determining a first correlation peak associated with the first bootstrap symbol having a first cyclic shift with a value of zero;

determining a second correlation peak associated with the second bootstrap symbol having a second cyclic shift with a non-zero value;

determining a time difference between the first correlation peak and the second correlation peak; and

determining signaling information based on the time difference.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

determining the signaling information using a lookup table.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the bootstrap signal further comprises a third bootstrap symbol and a fourth bootstrap symbol, wherein the fourth bootstrap symbol has a 180 degrees phase inversion relative to the third bootstrap symbol.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving a waveform following the bootstrap signal; and

using the signaling information for decoding the waveform.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the operations further comprise:

determining a major version number and a minor version number from the first bootstrap symbol; and

using the first bootstrap signal for initial time synchronization.
