Abstract

Interference-based augmented reality hosting platforms are presented. Hosting platforms can include networking nodes capable of analyzing a digital representation of scene to derive interference among elements of the scene. The hosting platform utilizes the interference to adjust the presence of augmented reality objects within an augmented reality experience. Elements of a scene can constructively interfere, enhancing presence of augmented reality objects; or destructively interfere, suppressing presence of augmented reality objects.

Claims (43)

1. An augmented reality (AR) object purchasing system comprising:

an AR repository comprising at least one database of AR objects having at least location attributes, wherein at least some of the AR objects comprises purchasable objects from at least one vendor;

at least one computer readable memory storing software instructions;

at least one processor coupled with the AR repository and the at least one computer readable memory, and that performs the following operations upon execution of the software instructions;

obtaining a digital representation of a scene including environment data having at least a device location of an AR capable device;

determining the proximity of the AR capable device to a virtual object associated with the scene based on the device location;

determining a context related to the AR capable device and the scene based at least on the device location and proximity to the virtual object;

identifying a set of available AR objects from the AR repository germane to the context and based on the AR objects' location attributes and the device location;

determining a presence for the set of available AR objects based the proximity of the AR capable device to the virtual object; and

causing the AR capable device to render the set of available AR objects according to the presence as objects available for purchase from the vendor.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objects available for purchase include a purchasable product.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objects available for purchase include at least of the following types of content: an image, a video, game content, and audio content.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objects available for purchase include at least one of the following: a reward, a token, and an unlocked AR experience.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the objects available for purchase comprise an address in an address space.

6. The system of claim 5 , wherein the address comprises a network address.

7. The system of claim 5 , wherein the address comprises a deterministic address derivable from a deterministic function.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the deterministic address comprises a hash value.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further include inventorying the set of available AR objects.

10. The system of claim 1 , wherein the context comprises a shopping context.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the context comprises a store-specific context.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the AR objects in the AR repository comprises the virtual object.

13. The system of claim 1 , wherein the virtual object represents a vending machine.

14. The system of claim 1 , wherein the virtual object represents an augmented aspect of the scene.

15. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further include enabling the AR capable device to conduct a commercial transaction associated with the vendor and related to the set of available AR objects.

16. The system of claim 15 , wherein the commercial transaction comprises a purchase.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the purchase comprises an exchange of virtual currency.

18. The system of claim 1 , wherein the operations further include enabling the AR capable device to access additional information related to the rendered set of available AR objects via a user selecting at least one of the rendered AR objects from the set of available AR objects.

19. The system of claim 1 , wherein the presence comprises a degree of presence.

20. The system of claim 1 , wherein the presence comprises a period of time for the set of available AR objects to be available.

21. A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising at least one computer readable memory storing one or more software instructions which, upon execution by a processor, perform:

obtaining a digital representation of a scene including environment data having at least a device location of an AR capable device;

determining the proximity of the AR capable device to a virtual object associated with the scene based on the device location;

determining a context related to the AR capable device and the scene based at least on the device location and proximity to the virtual object;

identifying a set of available AR objects from an AR object repository comprising at least one database of AR objects having at least location attributes, wherein at least some of the set of available AR objects comprise purchasable objects from at least one vendor germane to the context and based on the AR objects' location attributes and the device location;

determining a presence for the set of available AR objects based the proximity of the AR capable device to the virtual object; and

causing the AR capable device to render the set of available AR objects according to the presence as objects available for purchase from the vendor.

22. A method of purchasing one or more augmented reality (AR) objects comprising:

obtaining a digital representation of a scene including environment data having at least a device location of an AR capable device;

determining the proximity of the AR capable device to a virtual object associated with the scene based on the device location;

determining a context related to the AR capable device and the scene based at least on the device location and proximity to the virtual object;

identifying a set of available AR objects from an AR object repository comprising at least one database of AR objects having at least location attributes, wherein at least some of the set of available AR objects comprise purchasable objects from at least one vendor germane to the context and based on the AR objects' location attributes and the device location;

determining a presence for the set of available AR objects based the proximity of the AR capable device to the virtual object; and

causing the AR capable device to render the set of available AR objects according to the presence as objects available for purchase from the vendor.
