Abstract

In a method for monitoring communications in an observation platform, a computer system monitors at least one communication signal of a plurality of communication signals between a first communication device and a second communication device. The computer system determines, based on the monitoring, a user associated with the first communication device has not achieved a desired result with a feature of the first communication device because the user is reissuing voice commands to the first communication device. In anticipation of a need of the user for technical support for achieving the desired result with the feature, the computer system sends a training module to the first communication device. The training module comprises a corrective action the user can take to achieve the desired result with the feature and audio content played using the first communication device to teach the user specific phrases usable to achieve the desired result.

Claims (37)

1 . A method for monitoring communications in an observation platform, comprising:

monitoring, by a computer system, at least one communication signal of a plurality of communication signals between a first communication device and a second communication device, wherein the second communication device comprises a radio base station coupled with the computer system, wherein the first communication device comprises a handheld device, and wherein a characteristic of the at least one communication signal corresponds to an audible source;

determining, by the computer system based on the monitoring, a user associated with the first communication device has not achieved a desired result with a feature of the first communication device because the user is reissuing the same voice commands to the first communication device;

determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result; and

in anticipation of a need of the user for technical support to achieve the desired result with the feature, sending the training module from the computer system to the first communication device, wherein the training module is for use by the user in conjunction with the first communication device, and wherein the training module comprises a corrective action the user can take to achieve the desired result with the feature and also comprises audio content played using the first communication device to teach the user specific phrases usable to achieve the desired result, such that field support is reduced by resolving inability of the user to achieve the desired result with the feature before the user tries to make contact for the field support.

2 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the desired result that has not been achieved is related to one of sending messages and receiving messages.

3 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the desired result that has not been achieved is related to sending an acknowledgement.

4 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the desired result that has not been achieved is related to changing a volume on the first communication device.

5 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the desired result that has not been achieved is related to indicating a status of the user, wherein the status is selected from one of available, unavailable, busy, engaged, and on-break.

The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result comprises:

determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands and based on a geographic location of the first communication device, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result.

7 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the training module further comprises one or more of video content, graphical content, and textual content.

8 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the training module further comprises information related to products sold in a retail environment of an organization employing the observation platform.

9 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the training module further comprises information related to one of policies and procedures of an organization employing the observation platform.

10 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the training module comprises a virtual training room in which a retailer or a manufacturer can buy space for increasing one of brand awareness and brand knowledge.

11 . A non-transitory computer-usable storage medium having instructions embodied therein that when executed cause a computer system to perform a method for monitoring communications in an observation platform, the method comprising:

monitoring, by a computer system, at least one communication signal of a plurality of communication signals between a first communication device and a second communication device, wherein the second communication device comprises a radio base station coupled with the computer system, wherein the first communication device comprises a handheld device, and wherein a characteristic of the at least one communication signal corresponds to an audible source;

determining, by the computer system based on the monitoring, a user associated with the first communication device has not achieved a desired result with a feature of the first communication device because the user is reissuing the same voice commands to the first communication device;

determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result; and

in anticipation of a need of the user for technical support to achieve the desired result with the feature, sending the training module from the computer system to the first communication device, wherein the training module is for use by the user in conjunction with the first communication device, and wherein the training module comprises a corrective action the user can take to achieve the desired result with the feature and also comprises audio content played using the first communication device to teach the user specific phrases usable to achieve the desired result, such that field support is reduced by resolving inability of the user to achieve the desired result with the feature before the user tries to make contact for the field support.

The non-transitory computer-usable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result comprises:

determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands and based on a geographic location of the first communication device, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result.

13 . The non-transitory computer-usable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the training module further comprises one or more of video content, graphical content, and textual content.

14 . The non-transitory computer-usable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the training module further comprises information related to products sold in a retail environment of an organization employing the observation platform.

15 . The non-transitory computer-usable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the training module further comprises information related to one of policies and procedures of an organization employing the observation platform.

16 . The non-transitory computer-usable storage medium of claim 11 , wherein the training module comprises a virtual training room in which a retailer or a manufacturer can buy space for increasing one of brand awareness and brand knowledge.

17 . A platform for training using structured communications, the platform comprising:

a first communication device for sending a communication signal, wherein a characteristic of the communication signal corresponds to an audible source, wherein the first communication device comprises a handheld device;

a second communication device for receiving the communication signal;

a computer system associated with the second communication device, wherein the second communication device comprises a radio base station coupled with the computer system, and wherein the computer system is configured to:

monitor the communication signal;

determine, based on the monitoring, a user associated with the first communication device has not achieved a desired result with a feature of the first communication device because the user is reissuing the same voice commands to the first communication device;

determining, by the computer system based on the reissued same voice commands, a training module to assist the user in achieving the desired result, wherein the training module teaches the user specific phrases for alternative voice commands which may be used to achieve the desired result; and

send, in anticipation of a need of the user for technical support to achieve the desired result with the feature, the training module to the first communication device, wherein the training module is for use by the user in conjunction with the first communication device, and wherein the training module comprises a corrective action the user can take to achieve the desired result with the feature and also comprises audio content played using the first communication device to teach the user specific phrases usable to achieve the desired result, such that field support is reduced by resolving inability of the user to achieve the desired result with the feature before the user tries to make contact for the field support.

18 . The platform of claim 17 , wherein the training module further comprises information related to products sold in a retail environment of an organization employing the platform.

19 . The platform of claim 17 , wherein the training module further comprises information related to one of policies and procedures of an organization employing the platform.

20 . The platform of claim 17 , wherein the training module comprises a virtual training room in which a retailer or a manufacturer can buy space for increasing one of brand awareness and brand knowledge.
