Abstract

Monitoring system ( 12 ) for a mobile component ( 3 ), for example a rotating component, supported by a stationary component ( 2 ). The monitoring system ( 12 ) comprises: an acoustic sensor ( 10 ) which is positioned in the movable component ( 3 ) and comprises two terminals ( 17 ); a first amplifier ( 18 ) which is positioned in the movable component ( 3 ) and has two input terminals and two output terminals; a contactless communication unit ( 14 ) provided with a first transceiver device ( 15 ) positioned in the mobile component ( 3 ) and a second transceiver device ( 16 ) which faces the first transceiver device ( 15 ) and is positioned in the stationary component ( 2 ); a first connection line ( 19 ) which connects the sensor ( 10 ) to the first amplifier ( 18 ) e has two electrical leads each of them connecting a terminal ( 17 ) of the acoustic sensor ( 10 ) to a corresponding input terminal of the first amplifier ( 18 ); and a second connection line ( 20 ) which connects the first amplifier ( 18 ) to the first transceiver device ( 15 ) and has two electrical leads each of them connecting an output terminal of the first amplifier ( 18 ) to the first transceiver device ( 15 ).

Claims (28)

1 . A monitoring system for a movable component connected to a stationary component, the monitoring system being connected to a processor, and the monitoring system comprising:

an acoustic sensor placed in the movable component, the acoustic sensor comprising two independent electrical terminals;

a first amplifier placed in the movable component, the first amplifier comprising two independent electrical input terminals and two independent electrical output terminals;

a contactless communication unit comprising a first transceiver placed in the movable component, and a second transceiver facing the first transceiver and placed in the stationary component; and

a transmission line defining a signal path, the signal path being fully differential throughout the transmission line, and the transmission line comprising;

a first connection line comprising two independent electrical leads, each of the two independent electrical leads of the first connection line connecting an independent electrical terminal of the acoustic sensor to a corresponding independent electrical input terminal of the first amplifier; and

a second connection line comprising two independent electrical leads, each of the two independent electrical leads of the second connection line connecting an independent electrical output terminal of the first amplifier to the first transceiver.

2 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , further comprising a second amplifier placed in the movable component, the second amplifier being connected in series to the first amplifier along the second connection line, and the second amplifier comprising two independent electrical input terminals connected to the two independent electrical output terminals of the first amplifier and two independent electrical output terminals connected to the first transceiver.

3 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , further comprising a third amplifier placed in the stationary component, the third amplifier comprising two independent electrical input terminals connected to the second transceiver and two independent electrical output terminals configured to be connected to an interface unit that is configured to distribute electrical power supply and transmit signals exiting or entering the processor.

4 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , further comprising an analog-to-digital converter placed in the movable component or in the stationary component, the analog-to-digital converter configured to receive an analog signal and to convert the analog signal to a digital signal.

5 . The monitoring system of claim 4 , further comprising another processor placed in the movable component or in the stationary component, the another processor being configured to receive the digital signal from the analog-to-digital converter, process the digital signal, and output the processed digital signal.

6 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the transmission line starts from the acoustic sensor and ends at the processor connected to the monitoring system.

7 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , further comprising a power supply circuit comprising:

a first power supply placed in the movable component, the first power supply providing electrical power supply to the first amplifier; and

an air-coupled transformer comprising (i) a first coil placed in the movable component, the first coil providing electrical power to the first power supply, and (ii) a second coil placed in the stationary component, the second coil receiving electrical power.

8 . The monitoring system of claim 7 , further comprising a second power supply placed in the stationary component, the second power supply providing electrical power to the second coil, and to a third amplifier placed in the stationary component or to the second transceiver.

9 . The monitoring system of claim 7 , further comprising:

a third power supply coupled directly to the first coil;

a coupler that receives electrical power from the third power supply and provides electrical power into the second connection line, the electrical power being in a frequency band differing from a frequency band of an analog signal generated by the acoustic sensor; and

a decoupler that receives electrical power from the second connection line and provides electrical power to the first amplifier.

10 . The monitoring system of claim 9 , further comprising a balancing head.

11 . The monitoring system of claim 10 , wherein the third power supply is connected to the balancing head to provide electrical power to the balancing head.

12 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , further comprising:

another of the acoustic sensor;

another of the first amplifier;

another of the first connection line; and

a multiplexer with two independent electrical input terminals each connected to one of the first amplifiers and a single electrical output terminal connected to the first transceiver.

13 . The monitoring system of claim 1 , wherein the acoustic sensor is configured to generate an analog signal that is variable based on detected intensities and frequency of vibrations.
