Abstract

An edge device that includes a processor which obtains sensing information of a surrounding area from one or more external sensing devices in a communication range of the edge device. The processor communicates the sensing information to a central cloud server and obtains wireless connectivity enhanced information from the central cloud server based on the communicated sensing information. The wireless connectivity enhanced information is for a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE. The processor directs a first beam of radio frequency (RF) signal in a first wireless carrier network to the first UE and a second beam of RF signal in a second wireless carrier network to the second UE based on the obtained wireless connectivity enhanced information for the first UE and the second UE.

Claims (32)

1 . An edge device, comprising:

a processor configured to:

obtain sensing information of a surrounding area of the edge device from one or more external sensing devices in a communication range of the edge device;

communicate the sensing information to a central cloud server;

obtain wireless connectivity enhanced information from the central cloud server based on the communicated sensing information,

wherein the wireless connectivity enhanced information is for a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE; and

direct a first beam of radio frequency (RF) signal in a first wireless carrier network to the first UE and a second beam of RF signal in a second wireless carrier network to the second UE based on the obtained wireless connectivity enhanced information for the first UE and the second UE.

2 . The edge device according to claim 1 , wherein the one or more external sensing devices comprise at least one of: a Lidar, a camera, an accelerometer, a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), a gyroscope, or an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device.

3 . The edge device according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to reduce, based on the obtained wireless connectivity enhanced information, a time to align to a timing offset of a beam reception at the edge device to a frame structure of a 5G New Radio (NR) frame.

4 . The edge device according to claim 1 , wherein the first beam of RF signal in the first wireless carrier network to the first UE and the second beam of RF signal in the second wireless carrier network to the second UE are alternatingly directed from the edge device.

5 . The edge device according to claim 1 , wherein the first beam of RF signal in the first wireless carrier network to the first UE and the second beam of RF signal in the second wireless carrier network to the second UE are directed concurrently from the edge device.

6 . The edge device according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to form, based on the obtained wireless connectivity enhanced information, specific beam patterns specific to the first UE and the second UE.

7 . The edge device according to claim 1 , wherein the sensing information comprises at least one of: a position of the edge device, locations of the first UE and the second UE, moving directions of the first UE and the second UE, a time-of-day, traffic information, road information, construction information, or traffic light information.
