A method is further provided for identifying a compound that modulates receptor activated calcium mobilization associated with Homer. A method is provided for identifying a compound that inhibits Homer protein activity based on the crystal structure coordinates of Homer protein binding domain. A method is also provided for identifying a compound that affects the formation of cell surface receptors into clusters. Also provided are nucleic acids encoding Homer proteins as well as Homer proteins, and Homer interacting proteins.
1. An isolated nucleic acid encoding Homer protein 2a, wherein said nucleic acid has the nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:7.
2. An expression vector comprising a polynucleotide of claim 1 .
3. The expression vector of claim 2 , wherein the vector is a viral vector.
4. The expression vector of claim 2 , wherein the vector is a plasmid.
5. An insolated host cell comprising a vector of claim 2 .
6. The host cell of claim 5 , wherein the host cell is a prokaryotic cell.
7. The host cell of claim 5 , wherein the host cell is a eukaryotic cell.
