Abstract

The present invention relates to a system for reliably transmitting the position of a control element to an electronic processing unit by way of electric signal lines, wherein the position signal is transmitted by way of several signal channels, and use thereof in a motor vehicle brake system. The present invention further describes a position transmitter for transmitting position signals with a magnetic encoder which is displaceable by a control element in relation to a magnetic transformer, wherein the magnetic transformer(s) along with an integrated electronic signal-conditioning circuit are arranged in an electronic sensor subassembly, as well as a receiving device for receiving a position signal comprising several processing channels for processing the position signals of the position transmitter.

Claims (30)

1. System for detecting and transmitting position information, comprising:

first and second sensors for detecting a position of a control element,

an electronic processing unit connected to said and second sensor by way of first and second electric signal lines, respectively,

wherein the position informational is converted into electronic signals by said first and second sensors and transmitted by said sensors by way of said first and second electric signal lines,

wherein said signal carried on said first electric line is lower resolution than the signal carried on the second electric line,

wherein said electronic processing unit includes means for adopting different operation conditions, with the operating conditions differing from one another by a different rate of energy consumption,

wherein said means for adopting further includes means coupled to the first and second signal lines for assuming active or restrictedly active modes in a state with low energy consumption, and wherein the means for assuming further includes wake-up means by which the processing unit may be set to a state with higher energy consumption.

2. System as claimed in claim 1 , further including a position transmitter coupled to said sensors, wherein the signals transmitted by way of the signal lines are generated by said position transmitter.

3. System as claimed in claim 1 , further including a monitoring circuit which is and wherein said monitoring circuit monitors some selected system functions and, in dependence on the result of the monitoring operation, triggers an emergency operation or a deactivation of the processing unit.

4. System as claimed in claim 1 , wherein an output stage of the first and second sensor and an input stage of the processing unit are designed ratiometrically relative to one another with regard to a common current/voltage supply.

5. System as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the first and second sensors are fed by respectively one current/voltage supply line fed by the processing unit.

6. System as claimed in claim 1 , further including one or more offset devices coupled to said firs and second sensors for generating an offset level of a current or a voltage for detecting sensor errors, or signal line errors, or for filtering signal disturbances.

7. System for detecting and transmitting position information, comprising:

first and second sensors for detecting a position of a control element,

an electronic processing unit connected to said and second sensor by way of first and second electric signal lines, respectively,

wherein the position information is converted into electric signals by said first and second sensors and transmitted by said sensors by way of said first and second electric signal lines,

wherein said signal carried on said first electric line is lower resolution than the signal carried on the second electric line,

wherein an output stage of the first and second sensor and an input stage of the processing unit are designed ratiometrically relative to one another with regard to a common current/voltage supply.

8. System for detecting and transmitting position information, comprising:

first and second sensors for detecting a position of a control element,

an electronic processing unit connected to said first and second sensor by way of first and second electric signal lines, respectively,

wherein said signal carried on said first electric signals by said first and second sensors and transmitted by said sensors by way of said first and second electronic signal lines,

wherein said signal carried on said electric line is lower resolution than the signal carried on the second electric line,

wherein the first and second sensors are fed by respectively one current/voltage supply line fed by the processing unit.

9. System for detecting and transmitting position information, comprising:

first and second sensors for detecting a position of a control element,

an electronic processing unit connected to said first and second sensor by way of first and second electric signal lines, respectively,

wherein the position information is converted into electric signals by said first and second sensors and transmitted by said sensors by way of said first and second electric signal lines,

wherein said signal carried on said first electric line is lower resolution than the signal carried on the second electric line,

further including one or more offset devices coupled to said first and second sensors for generating an offset level of a current or a voltage for detecting sensor errors, or signal line errors, or for filtering signal disturbances.
